BIGTRUCK Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I bought this last year , got it all apart and paint removed. Some parts have glue smudges and I broke one spindle but all fixable. I was also fortunate to score a Billy Gooche decal set for it also last year. Was this kit ever released as any other show rod or re released as Mail Truck? It needs some more clean up but easy work. TooOld Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Cool looking kit , should look great when you're finished ! Good score on the Gooche decals . Don't know the history of this kit but I'm sure somebody here has the answers .
espo Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 Didn't even know it existed but there are a great number of possibilities with this. What do you plan for the rebuild ?

vintagercr Posted December 19, 2016 Posted December 19, 2016 I had one when it was brand new. Wish I had it now.
Chuck Most Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Was this kit ever released as any other show rod or re released as Mail Truck? The fender unit and suspension pieces look an awful lot like the ones used in the MPC (later AMT/Ertl) '29 Ford Woody/Pickup kit.
BDSchindler Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 nice...speaking of Mail Trucks...I saw this 1:1 at the beach last summer...
BIGTRUCK Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 Didn't even know it existed but there are a great number of possibilities with this. What do you plan for the rebuild ?Try to stay pretty close to original look.
Davewilly Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Maybe this one will show up in the near future from the Kat at Round 2.....I have a pretty decent glue bomb I got off Ebay about 10 years ago that I plan on re doing at some point. It's a pretty neat looking 70's show rod!
BIGTRUCK Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) The engine block being chrome was pretty ugly with glue marks and didnt look any better with the chrome removed. I thought about what Chuck Most said about the '29 Ford Woody / pickup [ Thanks Chuck for the heads up on the '29 ] and not only were the fenders and all suspension parts the same but lo and behold it had the same engine in bright shiny new chrome, Edited January 1, 2017 by BIGTRUCK
Chuck Most Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Glad I could help, though I have to admit I know nothing about this kit, but the fender unit and suspension looked awfully familiar to me. Guess it's clear why now.
250 Testa Rossa Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Hopefully Round 2 reissues this kit in the near future.
BIGTRUCK Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 This build is still chuggin' along, but along way from done. The front sat high , so even though I had all new front suspension parts I opted for a '40 Ford front axle to bring it down some. Next I have to mask the body and rear doors and add the metallic blue , then go back remask the body and add the red metallic to the roof. I rattle can the white and metallic red but using the airbrush on the blue areas
dodge5522 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Looking very cool I like these builds keep up good work
Eric Macleod Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Does this get a set of Woods Lights? From the box illustration it looks like it does. You have a great start going here.
