SlammingPetes Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 The cabover Pete is the first model I've ever built in my life. It's the AMT Peterbilt model 352 kit. Stretched the frame custom deck plate custom grill custom bumper slightly lowered the suspension etc etc. I definitely got hooked right away! Couldn't wait to start on my second! And as you can see I started customizing the Italeri Peterbilt model 378 1:24 scale. Ignore the stacks you see in the photo. They're just there to get an idea of what it's going to look like. That goes for the deck plate as well. I lowered the suspension as much as possible without having to reduce any pieces. Lowered the fuel tanks. Added an extension on the bottom of the cab as well as the sleeper oh and also the front fenders. Stretched frame. Custom made the visors bumper grill and headlights. As well as the mirrors and cb antennas. Etc etc. Much much more work still needs to be done. Everything I've done so far I've learned on my own. Haven't watched any youtube videos or anything like that. I'm sure I will however when I eventually begin my third project (secret). Well thanks for looking sorry not so many pics..... I'll be back....
gatorincebu Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Hmmm ! veddy veddy interesting . Be Well Gator
disabled modeler Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Welcome to the model life Kevin....nice trucks for your first try. Yep I was the same way after my first...been building ever since.
SlammingPetes Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 Thanks for the compliment. Yeah it's Great! I've always had a thing for custom big rigs. Being able to to bring one to life at my specifications is amazing! I believe I will attempt to build a lowboy trailer from scratch for my second Pete.
kilrathy10 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Dude....These look great.....Very fine work, indeed.....You're a natural at this for sure.....I know another member with this same set of natural skills....I'm curious to see what you'll churn out over the next few years.....If it's anything like "his" work, you'll be quite the modeler..... And don't be afraid to seek advice....Although trial and error is one of the best teachers, so is the ancient art of asking questions......Could save a grievous error on an expensive model.....I'm sure quite a few can attest to that..... WELCOME ABOARD THIS CRAZY TRAIN !!!!!

SlammingPetes Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Thanks Ben! Doing very little by little. Going to be a while before I have it complete.
SlammingPetes Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 Put my model project to a halt when I came to realize I could probably do a much better job working on my model if I had an actual workbench to work on and not my recliner. So I started building myself a workbench. Still under construction......
