I do remember that 510! A friend of mine sent me the link when he found it. It was a pretty cool build and glad it is going strong!

Also, even though I am a Datsun guy, I must give props to the old school Toyota 18RG

A Datsun 510.

Now that was a foreign car I remember!

Ole cousin had one that was really quick, I loved riding in the thing!  It was not stock either, and had lots of power.  I liked the body, a nice racer.

Looked good too.

I think Monogram included one in their release of the Olds Aerotech High Performance series in the early 90s. Someone here may be able to verify this. Ebay has this kit off and on. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Monogram-High-Performance-Series-Olds-Aerotech-1-24-Sealed-/311745340017?hash=item4895786271:g:5McAAOSwA3dYMnXb

A lot of really nice engines mentioned. I have to give props to the GM EcoTech four cylinder engines. Tough little beasts. Both my HHRs had them and now even my GMC Terrain has the 2.4 version. Pulls that heavy vehicle around quite nicely. Also an older Volvo B18 four was a reliable solid engine. Simple to work on too.

I had a 71 Carona, with the 18RC, and that was another great old school four. 1.8L, iirc, and the owners manual for the car stated the "cruising" speed for the car was 112 mph. I put it to the test more than once. Bought it about 11 years old with about 50k on it ( it seriously belonged to a little old school teacher) and when I sold it, it was well over 200k.

As far as the 2000 4 cylinder Pinto engine, they did not have much power stock but they sure would take a beating. I think they are the same 4 Cylinder that is used in the GTP Mustang kit from Monogram. They just had an aftermarket race head on them. Maybe it was the 2300 not sure what they started with.

Ford "banger" above. Never really had thoughts on the old four until I saw some of the TROG style cars...then realized how cool they are! Above is from the Revell '29 Woody with plugs from RB Motion.
