Markalister Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 2016 is a year of firsts for me. This is my first post ever. This is the first model car I've "completed" in over 10 years. This car was my first ever attempt at airbrush painting the body of the car. This car took 3 years for me to complete. I was keeping an acceptable unrushed pace and then the paint on the hood wrinkled on the entire top side after I put the decal on it (decal was still ok - paint on the hood - not so much). So it got shelved for over 2 years while I figured out a work around to save the decal and repaint the hood. Next build I may attempt BMF. This is Revell's 2011 Streetburner release of the 1979 Camaro Z/28...
Miatatom Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Nice recovery, looks good to me, Mark! I finished one today, the first in 11 months.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Very cool. Sounds like a good year to build On!
JerseyRed Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Congratulations! Your first airbrush attempt looks good. You did a nice job.?
Geno Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Looks great Mark, the last bodystyle I every really liked of the Camaro.
bbowser Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) Looks great from here! So long as you had fun, who cares how long it took Oh, and welcome to the forum! Edited December 28, 2016 by bbowser
TooOld Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Looks good to me too , the paint came out great ! Give BMF a try next time , it's not that hard to do . Plus if you screw up a piece just peel it off and do it again , sometimes I'll redo a piece several times before I'm happy with it !

10thumbs Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Hi Mark, very nice job and the model looks cleanly built and painted, compliments.
Markalister Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Thanks for all the kind words and compliments guys. I've seen the caliber of your work and respect the years you've put into honing your skills and perfecting your craft so it really means a lot.I will definitely try bmf on the next one. With the paint and decal issues I had with this car I came to the point where I just didn't want to touch it anymore. I'm a perfectionist so saying "when" is difficult for me, and I got scared to keep messing with it for fear of things going sideways and the model falling victim to a very bad "accident" if you know what I mean.Happy New Year everybody. Here's to a great 2017. I'm looking forward to learning from you guys and being inspired along the way.
Funkychiken Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Looks good to me and welcome back to the hobby!
