wrecker388 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Here are a few (mostly) finished pics of the 330. There are still a few more changes I'm working on that will be made shortly. My only real dislike with this car is the hood fitment. It lined up perfectly in the primer stage. Well it doesn't now. One of the changes will be the aluminum cover thing in front of the intake. I couldn't find the original piece to modify until last night. The paint is Duplicolor Mirage Tri-Coat. It really pops in sunlight and the color change is awesome. Any questions and critiques welcomed!
Lunajammer Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 That chameleon color is crazy Riley. Every picture the car looks a different color. Nice work and congrats on completing.A reminder to you and everyone else who finishes that you will still need to post your pics to the Finished Build thread when it gets posted. Voters will be sent to that thread to select their favorite entry.
Erik Smith Posted October 9, 2017 Posted October 9, 2017 (edited) Well, the days are getting shorter and colder...guess it’s time to dust things off and see where I left them....I hope none of the parts melted away over the summer. Congrats on the ranch, Rob! Edited October 10, 2017 by Erik Smith
TimJ Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Great paintwork Riley, that colour changing paintwork should confuse the cops. Congrats on the new place Rob, it looks great. I didn't take part in the last two runs and I know that there are only a few weeks to go but I'm going to make a late entry with this. As you can probably guess from the condition of the box the decals are completely shot but all the parts are OK, just in need of a wash. Like most of my builds this will be basically box stock but I will be changing the colour.
Lunajammer Posted October 10, 2017 Posted October 10, 2017 Glad to have you back Tim. I'm sure you'll be a tough competitor.
zenrat Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 (edited) Looking good folks. Good luck establishing the People's Republic of Jantrix mate. So, October.Time to get to work then.I've got the engine mountings sorted along with the front suspension and the firewall.I'm currently adding cowl induction and front coiler mounts will be next followed by extractors and a radiator. Lots of room under the bonnet of this thing even with a 762 cube donk in there. TimJ Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Looking good Fred. The Trans Am is coming together quickly, so far the engine is mostly done and the suspension and exhaust fitted. The bumpers and side skirts have been fitted to the body. They fitted OK after a bit of fettling. Finally for now, a quick mock up.
426 pack Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 Here is my update. It is almost done just need to do a couple more things.
Jantrix Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 If you have input on the 2018 Cannonball, please add it to the discussion thread. This Friday I'll start the poll to decide next years theme.
Erik Smith Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Some primer... and adding a few “horse power (s)?” to the Hemi via a Kenne Bell supercharger
Jantrix Posted October 20, 2017 Author Posted October 20, 2017 The theme poll for next years Cannonball is up. Please vote.
Erik Smith Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 The parts of the Kenne Bell supercharger: I cut a regular rectangle for the base at first, then realized it needed to be offset to match the heads, so I took measurements and cut out the shape with a Silhouette Cameo and glued up the .10 layers.
zenrat Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 That should do the trick Erik.I've been doing bodywork. Cowl induction, body shaved and bumpers narrowed and moulded in. I'll put some pics up when i've finished the PSR and shot a final coat of primer. Shouldn't be too long. Also, extractors have been fabricated, painting has commenced on the chassis, inner wheels have been painted, 4 point cage fabricated, dash modified and seats prepped for paint. When it comes to paint i've been thinking about some 80's inspired graphics.
bill_67 Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 Great work guys, I'm going to get back on the javelin. There is still a lot of work to be done, a quick picture of the interior is where I left off.
MeatMan Posted October 22, 2017 Posted October 22, 2017 I thought I'd update my status on my Camaro as well. Got the body pretty much tightened up. I've got a couple of ideas for getting the hood to align and hope it won't require repainting. Fingers crossed.
vwdave92 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 OK the interior is done. All full sheet of Scale Motorsports kevlar is gone :). CB, laptop, stereo with video display, speakers in foot wells, fire bottle, belts and window crank handles all added.
vwdave92 Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Holy smokes Dave, that's stunning. thanks. getting close
zenrat Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 (edited) Good stuff Dave. I was pondering how tech has evolved over the years i've been doing this. When I built the lil Nissan on a NASCAR chassis for the second or third run I included big boxes to represent a computer navigation and communications system. This year i'll scratch up a tablet or smart phone and that'll be it (apart from the CB put in the dash for old times sake). Having finished the bodywork I painted it today. Jantrix Posted October 30, 2017 Author Posted October 30, 2017 That orange should blend right in, Fred! You're right. No one will give that a second look.
zenrat Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Wait until it's got the graphics on! My plan this year has always been no subtlety, no stealth, just brute force.Besides, it'll be moving so fast doppler shift will make it look black...
Jantrix Posted October 30, 2017 Author Posted October 30, 2017 OK I'm done. Here is a teaser picture. I think Dave is suggesting that that's the view y'all should get used to seeing.
