Taxdude Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 (edited) Ok since i finished all of one model last year I thought that I would triple my output in 2017. Going for a weekend racer and his midget. Tow vehicle will be a 4 door Ford wagon, single color paint for a basic family wagon, trunk area will have tool box and other race day needs.. I have modified the trailer with a front fairing and longer ramps. Also added a full frame to the trailer. The midget will be Offy powered with a resin nose, paint will be red and black with a local sponsor. Edited February 5, 2017 by Taxdude Update
Fast Floyd 2 Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Sweeeeeeeet !!! Where's the 4 dr wagon body from? I have a early Flintstone 57 Country Sedan 4 dr Wagon body. I haven't tried it on the Revell Chassis yet. Is that what you're doing? My body has the hood molded shut, if I remember correctly.
Intmd8r Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Nice work-that's going to look so cool when it's finished
Bobdude Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I see the snow has finally got to you.Great start so far.Maybe I could see the completed project at the NNL Nats?
espo Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I like the theme with the basic wagon. Who's wagon body is that anyway ? I'm going to steal your trailer idea, really makes it look more substantial.
Taxdude Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Did a little work on the midget. If you haven't ever built one do it. It is an awesome kit but you must dechrome the whole thing for a better build. I modified the front and rear nerf bars by adding bars to each. The kit rear is missing the middle bar that most ran with. The front bar's were often modified by the owners. I also added the deflector bars onto the rear 4-bars. Why Revell didn't include these I don't know. The dash was scratch built as the Offy had a 3 gauge panel and the kit piece has an extra hole. Cell phone pictures suck, sorry. Besides the body you get a front bench seat and new front to back interior panels. The quality of the casting is just as good as RMCoM, better than Modelhaus.

vintagercr Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 I will be watching for sure. MAD do some nice work.
Againmikewins Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Can't wait to see this finished! Where is the trailer and midget racer kit from?
Taxdude Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Can't wait to see this finished! Where is the trailer and midget racer kit from?It is the Revell kit that you can get with either a Offy or a flathead V8-60. It is an awesome kit.
disabled modeler Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Fred.... I am loving this build...I am a huge fan of wagons....very cool project.
tim boyd Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 If you haven't ever built one do it. It is an awesome kit ... Fred is spot-on here. It's a superb kit and great fun for experienced modelers like the readers of this forum. Fred previously built another Midget from the Revell kit several years ago, hands down it is the finest build of this kit I've seen. I'm expecting his new Offy here to be just as good.....TIM

Taxdude Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 Quick little update. Modified the hood of the midget to have the fairing at the bottom of the windshield. Still need another lite coat of filler to complete the contour. Also removed the louvers. Made a heat shield for the exhaust. This will be mounted even with the cockpit. Also made a couple of taillights for the trailer out of an MV lens and some aluminum tubing. The rest of the car is in primer or has had a coat of black prior to various shades of Alclad. Trying to get as much done as possible before tax season.
Art Laski Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) I love the upgrades, Fred! Good stuff...I built an Edelbrock version box stock when they first came out and am looking forward to doing the Offy in the future, but detailed. I will certainly use your WIP as a guide! Taxdude Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 7 shades of Alclad applied to various bits. I love this stuff. Now it is set aside to dry and then some assembly can start in the near future.
