mhadman Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) I had some time to lay down a coat of clear today. This is an older photo but hope to update this week. Will eventually be in Hurst graphics. Edited January 14, 2017 by mhadman
Misha Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 That is so sweet looking! Did you do the body or is it resin? I have a Johan in my stash and it would be so tempting to try. Hurst colours will really make it.Cheers Misha
Snake45 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 That looks great! I've seen many "Camino-versions" but most of them just don't get it. Yours is one of a very, very few I've ever seen that works. Nicely done and keep us posted on this!
mhadman Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Thanks! I am bouncing between this and the 69 right now. I see an end in sight. Been on and off since 2009. Both bodies, and a prototype, were made by combining an AMT 68 El Camino and an AMT 69 Oldsmobile. The 68 parts are modelhaus resin pieces. I am glad I got a few conversion sets before they shut down. Really looking forward to getting these done. Next step will be to paint around rear window, bedrails and tail gate black..

mhadman Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 Laid down the Hurst black to the rear of the 68. Hopefully the car will see clear coat this weekend, time permitting. From there, on to graphics!

landman Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 My thoughts exactly upon seeing the first photo. I was taken aback by how "right" this looks!I'd say that is because it is based on the same basic body (GM intermediate). The balance and proportions remain. That is indeed a great looking conversion.
DumpyDan Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 I am not a big Olds fan but this is something I can really see working. This looks so right......Nice work!
PARTSMARTY Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Absolutely cool as can be-awesome my friend !!!
