I just started on this kit.

I painted the body and did some of the foiling before the cold weather got here.

My progress so far.

I picked up a pin vise a while ago, but I couldn't figure out how to open the case with the bits. I spotted a small opening built into the cover of the case so I assumed the clear cover slid to what size bit you wanted to use, but I couldn't find a way to slide the cover. I didn't want to break the case and lose the bits on the floor because the only way to find them if that happened would be with my bare feet. I was just about to ask in the forum how to open the case when I saw the handle of the case was holding the slide, keeping it from opening.

Maybe I should go back to coloring books instead of model building.

Now I can try doing the plug wires and tire stems I have. I think the hemi would be an easier motor to wire than most. So now instead of juat doing a simple build I can add some detail.

I had one of those sets of drill bits and I know what your saying its not clear how to open the box . I was even more disappointed to find that the drill bits are all blunt and they snap as soon as you start drilling .

Nice colour BTW I look forward to more progress

Today progress:

Starting to look like a car:

I got the hole in the wheels using the pin vice. The first one I did is a little bit off because the the bit slipped a little, but I can try again and patch the wrong hole and redo it. It's suppose to be warmer and dryer tomorrow, so maybe I can paint the wheels and a few other small pieces.

Thanks everyone. It was pretty nice out today so I painted some of the small pieces.

Seats painted.

Flocked the floor, but it's drying before I dump the loose flocking off.

Today's progress.

I was going to leave the console out, but it was too much black.

The console broke the black up.

Yippie, my first tire stem. I'll be a bit more careful of where I drill the holes in the future.

Your Charger is comin' along real nice John, however the seats are way too shiny as I've owned 2 B-Bodied Mopars  myself, both with black interiors. I just love dem Mopars!

I love me some '68-'70 Chargers, so this'll be fun to watch.

Question: Are the redline tires done with kit decals or are they aftermarket?

They're from the AMT red line tire set. I may attempt to use the decals on the tires from the kit at some point but the decals can be tricky

Thanks. I'm stripping them now/ the semi gloss spray was very semi, plus I'm going to try something on the seats that I think will look neat if I can pull it off.

A mist coat of semi flat clear may improve the appearance of the seats. The same with the console. With a little brushed aluminum on the consoles center section it should lighten up the interior. Your painted body and the chassis look great.

I got some things done over the last couple of days. Not a lot to take pictures of though. I'm just amazed at what a difference adding the tire stem to the wheel makes. This is the first model I've done this to, and I'm pleased with the results. It turned out to be easier than I thought it would be.

I did some small parts and painted the seats flat black. I tried to do the pleats in the seats in the body color to to lessen all the black, and it almost worked, but I couldn't quite pull it off.

I also started planning the spark plug wires on he hemi and came up with a plan, so I'm ready to try this. Fingers crossed.

Working on the plug wires. They need a little adjustment, but it wasn't all that hard to do. I made it much harder on my first attempt.

This made think I'm going to try the seat pleats again.

This s what I'm trying to do, but my hands aren't steady enough. I'm hoping I can carefully brush the flat black in around the silver pleat I think this will work out pretty nice.

Lookin' GREAT John! With a little practice it will get easier as you go! BUT that "Matte" black work on those seats (without the silver) looked GREAT as they were! NICELY done! I think you'll be OK on the black when you go around that silver! (That will look good!)

As for the Redline tires, I have yet to "try" those on ANY of my builds, I may have to change that as they're beginning to grow on me!

Thanks. I bought those tires at a Hobby Lobby in Ft. Meyers FL two years ago. these were the last set I had left. Time to look for more. I've giver up on the seats so they are soaking again so I can do them in all black.

The motor is almost done. I'm going to try and glue the vacuum advance on the distributor and that will be that.

The interior is now close. I stripped the seats and they'll be painted again tomorrow for the last time.

I found an issue when I went to glue the motor in. The motor wouldn't go all the way down on the mounts, so I started sanding. After so sanding one side fit nice but the drivers side was still off. A closer look showed the mounts on the frame aren't even.

I didn't want to put the whole car together and then find out the hood wouldn't fit right, so I wound up cutting some of the drivers side mount off to get a better fit.

It seems pretty good now.
