cpspoogie Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Got a request from my old Navy buddy to recreate his first car. First pic is the original, second is my finished model right down to the HAT ROD license plate (his family are hatmakers in TX). Flared the fenders with Milliput.
vintagedragcrazy Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Looks great chris your buddy should be proud of that!vince
espo Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Great recreation. I remember when a lot of guys put the extra set of tail lights on their Mustangs. Some would even put Cougar tail lights on. You really captured the flares just as your friend had done.
cpspoogie Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Thanks all for the kind words. Im still learning and making lots of mistakes. This baby surely has its flaws and i shake very badly, as evidenced by the tail lights.
Maindrian Pace Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 I think it looks great, and it and the real car are very, very '70s. So much so, I'm surprised it didn't have Thrush side pipes.
DrKerry Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Looks pretty awesome though, bet you made your friends day when ya gave it to him!!!!!
cpspoogie Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 Thanks again, all! Dropped it in the mail today for him.
DrKerry Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Oh he hasn't seen it yet, he'll like it for sure!!
crazyjim Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 He should be very happy with your recreation of his car.
geetee66 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Yeah, your pal is going to love it!Nice build.By the way, if you get trouble with clear red straying onto adjacent chrome, a slightly blunted cocktail stick, dipped in acrylic thinner (used gently) will remove the red from the high points and leave a neat finish. But in truth, it's only macro photography that shows these things up. The eye will see it differently. So it'll still look awesome on your buddy's shelf.
kilrathy10 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Excellent work.....You captured the 1:1 quite well.....
