Pete J. Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Can you shoot a photo of the ones you need? I may have some around here somewhere. I know I have several extra sets at one time.
Dirtracer22 Posted March 18, 2017 Author Posted March 18, 2017 Can you shoot a photo of the ones you need? I may have some around here somewhere. I know I have several extra sets at one time. The ones that go over the rear fenders are the ones I had trouble with but I'm afraid they'll all look different if I mixed them up. Thank you for any help.
Pete J. Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I have four sets. Not sure if they are good or not as they are over 5 years old. They have been stored in file protectors in my office. You are welcome to a set. Send me an address and I will drop them in the mail. By the way, they are a bitch to get down especially where they make the curve at the bottom of the fender flair to the straight piece on the running boards. I wound up cutting them up and piecing them together. Frankly, the next time I do one I am going to mask it off and spray them with Zero paints Martini lacquer set. I almost think that would work better.

Belugawrx Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Looking really nice Wes !! I love the Tamiya 1:12 series Keep it going
935k3 Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Some tips on decals.Instead of using solvents I use a hot damp cloth pressed over the decal. It will set and conform instantly without wrinkles. Only press for a second or two, if held for a long time it will damage the decal clear coat. I use a hot damp Q-Tip for smaller areas like NACA ducts. I only use solvents down in panel lines and edges, like the edge of a wheel opening on a body. Also I mix half soapy water and decal set(blue bottle) half and half and put under the decal. This aids greatly to move large decals to the proper position.
peteski Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I've seen Scale Motorsports carbon fiber decals being coaxed to conform to complex surfaces using hot air from a hair dryer.
mr68gts Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I've seen Scale Motorsports carbon fiber decals being coaxed to conform to complex surfaces using hot air from a hair dryer.Works pretty good using this technique. Haven't tried it with typical out of kit decals but it just may work. It softens up the decal pretty good making it pliable enough to conform, even the thicker high def decals so kit decals may like it also. Just be easy on the heat or you will ruin the model underneath....Paul
Dirtracer22 Posted April 2, 2017 Author Posted April 2, 2017 It's about done. Few details left to clean up but all together I'm semi content with the final product. Want to do another one with a full detail set though.
Twokidsnosleep Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 It is gorgeous!!! Well done man, well done
hvymtl Posted June 23, 2018 Posted June 23, 2018 Wow that is beautiful !!!! I get in to this section as I stay in the 1/25 to 1/24 kits but I too have been in awe of this kit and the 934 as well isnce I was young and I went and got one of each of them off the net several years ago and now I sit and lokk at them and wish I could build them LOL! with a growing family that I have it is rough even getting the smaller ones built . So iwill book mark the spots for these builds and hopefully get them done . Again that is a very nice build
