mrmike Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 This is my '62 Impala 409 painted with Dupli-Color Light Blue Metallic. I raised the rear suspension, added aluminium tubing exhaust tips, wired the engine, blued the exhaust headers, and added a tach on the steering column.
Badluck 13 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I watched this one from the beginning and the end was no disappointment , Mr. Mike I have to say this one is my favorite you have done , love the interior and the small details like the exhaust dumps and the stance etc. really enjoyed seeing this one come alive.
charger74 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Very nice looking chevy, time to play the beach boys !!!
mrmike Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Thank you everyone! This came out really nice, even though I usually build Mopars or Fords. Chevys are a different kind of challenge for me.
mrmike Posted March 27, 2017 Author Posted March 27, 2017 I recently picked up the Lindberg '61 Impala SS 409 kit sealed for $10.00 from a fellow Classic Plastic Model Club member. That now brings me to seven Chevy model kits in the stash. I suppose I have to have at least one bubble top Chevy!
BigTallDad Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 Very nice looking, especially the stance.May I make a suggestion?
mrmike Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 Thank you and please do make your suggestion heard, Ray
BigTallDad Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Thank you, I just didn't want to barge in...From '61 to '65, the Impalas had three tail lights on each side. The center tail light was actually the back up light, and had a clear center. If you take some off-white paint and put a dab in the middle of the center lens (not a huge deal), the rivet-counters will not deduct points and the rear of the model will be more correct.https://www.google.com/search?q=62+impala+ss+tail+lights&rlz=1C1AVNG_enUS698US698&espv=2&tbm=isch&imgil=CZLCxSkdmht5UM%3A%3Bw35LQpjiDn8foM%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.pinterest.com%252Fpin%252F327425835386039021%252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=CZLCxSkdmht5UM%3A%2Cw35LQpjiDn8foM%2C_&usg=__siRuZejCjA3dfSer38hFTlo-_vo%3D&biw=1280&bih=617&dpr=1.5&ved=0ahUKEwiixMrZg_jSAhWC5iYKHTDODd8QyjcIjQE&ei=yrnZWKK3IILNmwGwnLf4DQ#imgrc=wYmz03nx_GD2yM:
mrmike Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 Thank you Ray! This was something I had noticed after I had taken photos of the Impala and had corrected, but I never took any additional photos since then. Since you had pointed this out, I'll post another photo of the rear of my Impala 409.
