mecklm Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I'm wondering if it is possible to create a dedicated forum category for our Harry? There was so much to learn from each of his builds that I think this would be a great resource for all members, not to mention, a fitting tribute to his legacy. Not knowing the intricacies of a website build, I don't really know how easy or difficult this would be. If it's not feasible, perhaps the next best thing would be a pinned post where all of his builds and "under glass" posts could be compiled and linked. I'd love to see something like this happen for such an influential member of our community. Thanks for your consideration,Mike Meckl.
Tom Geiger Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 The first order of business would be to secure all the photos used in these posts. I just checked, and his images are in his Photobucket account. They are in danger of being lost if the account is discontinued. The images will need to be put in "safe place", such as Model Cars Magazine web space. Then someone would need access to edit his posts to update the links to every photo.
bobthehobbyguy Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Great idea. Would be a great memorial and also provide a great repository of the techniques Harry used in his builds.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Excellent idea. Every one of his models was inspiring, and every build thread had loads of information on how-to-do-it.
Dave Ambrose Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 I was thinking along these lines too. It will probably be along the lines of a pinned topic. Harvesting is pictures from photo bucket is a good idea too. I'll have to figure out how to do that. Any other programmers out there that can deal with MySQL?
slusher Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Excellent idea. Every one of his models was inspiring, and every build thread had loads of information on how-to-do-it.I agree
Roadrunner Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I think this would be a grand gesture, and I'm all for it.
