I like brightly colored cars so, taking advantage of some great weather here in Maryland, got another paint job under way. Back in 1968 a Cincinnati Dodge dealer commissioned Dodge to build 50 special paint Chargers to commemorate the city getting a football team. Decided to try my hand at replicating one these Chargers known as a "Bengal Charger".

Order some Orange paint from Scale Finishes and using the main body from Revell 1969 Charger, to have the vinyl top and trim already, and the rest will come from Revell's 1968 Charger kit. Gilled the sude marker lights, primed with Tamiya White Primer and airbrushed the Orange. Need to clear yet and tape and paint the Black vinyl top. Will get some pictures outside when cleared. This thing is so bright.

Here's a picture of a real car

Went to Keith Marks Decals and seen that his 68 Charger set has the correct Bengal emblems for this car. Ordered a set and now waiting for them.

Seen some dirt and a couple spots in the paint that I wasn't happy withso, I grabbed my 2000 grit and wet sanded body and resprayed the 999 Orange. Looks better this time. Now to let it dry a couple days, then some clear. Got the interior sprayed Black today as well.

I was just about to ask if that was 999 Orange. Been thinking of doing a Road Runner in that color.

It's actually a I believe Detroit city vehicle color.

In 69 is when it was labeled  Omaha orange thru Mopar

A at least best in can remender that

Friend of mine used to own a really low mileage example.  Several years ago

Love seeing these 1:1 Dealer "Special" cars being built!  I've seen one of these Bengal Chargers several years ago; they certainly stand-out wherever they're parked!  I'll be watching you finish-up this build; it sure looks good so far!

Got the vinyl top painted black with Testors 2 step system and have started the bare metal trim.

That looks GREAT man. the Testors 2 step thing, what is that and how does it work? It looks and came out GREAT on your roof man!

Testors has/had in there lacquer paint line a vinyl top base and vinyl top  top cost in black and in white. This is how I have been doing my vinyl tops. My father says it doesn't look right but he still does the old masking tape vinyl tops so, I don't know. I like it.

Not sure about wheels and tires though. I was just going to use the redlines and magnum wheels the kit came from but, they look to small to me. I do have a set of AMT Tire Packs Goodyear Polyglas I'm thinking about using instead.
