larrygre Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Hey all, Anyone know of a RELIABLY GOOD source for a good quality '71 Demon 340 in resin to convert the AMT Duster? Im not sure but I think Modelhaus had it at one time. TIA.
John E. Bowers Jr. Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 This is a project I am wanting to build too, so speak up guys!
Zoom Zoom Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 How good? I see Model Roundup sells one of the lower-end resin conversions for about $38; they aren't up to Modelhaus or AF/X's quality, but I don't know of any other source.
kelson Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I believe R+D unique used to sell one at one time as well, not sure if they still do.
george 53 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Fella's I got the same one from "Model Round-Up" It's a good copy. yea you gotta cut the hood out,but it's not hard, the Duster pieces fit right in not alot of work involved. It does make a nice model.

Bob, don't even mention A/FX in Scale to me. That is a SERIOUS sore point. I ordered TWO of their '71 Demon bodies THREE YEARS AGO. They took my 70 plus dollars and all I ever got in return was an e-mail from Monica that "we'll get these out to you next week." Despite continued e-mails, I am STILL waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

With the number of customers in the same boat as you, I have to wonder how they have continued to operate as most people consider taking people's money and not delivering to be criminal.
george 53 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Guys, I ordered a 68 GTO funny car body back around Christmas before I was aware it was AFX's E-Bay website. I had to threaten ol monica sowers about goin to the E-Bay powers that be about gettin my order or my money back, and lo and behold, after about 4 months I got my order! Lesson learned, NEVER deal with AFX AGAIN!!!!!
Ron Hamilton Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 (edited) Strange. I have one of the AFX in scale '71 Demons, and it is a nice transkit. I haven't had ANY problems getting my items from AFX in scale, other than they are very slow. I planned to combine it with the latest '71 Duster kit here and there for accuracy's sake. I have some Demon decals to go with it. I had one of R & R resin repops, but I cannot find it now. (Somewhere in my Basement) If I could find it, maybe we can make a deal, once I can find it, and determine it's condition. Edited June 11, 2008 by Ron Hamilton

KDog Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Here's 1 that I do @ Bandit Resins. It's a direct copy of the MPC kit. It was done off a buddies mint kit. KDog@banditresins.com
Casey Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Here's 1 that I do @ Bandit Resins. It's a direct copy of the MPC kit. It was done off a buddies mint kit. How well does the recent AMT '71 Duster chassis fit under it?
KDog Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 How well does the recent AMT '71 Duster chassis fit under it? I personally haven't tried it. But it should be very close. I used the 75 Duster (Dart) under the 1 I built. Plan is to build another using the new Duster & add the inner fenders to it. Hope that helps, KDog

Hope that helps, KDog I would consider it a major selling point to be able to use the newer AMT '71 Duster chassis and engine compartment with this body, rather than be required to use the old MPC metal-axle based chassis. If the body was designed to use the newer chassis, even better.

If the body was designed to use the newer chassis, even better.I have 6 of these Bandit Resin Demons, and they are excellent quality castings, the model roundup one,is a waste of money,I bought one just to see how it was,can I say junk, worst resin kit i've ever bought,so I personally recommend the bandit resin kit,yes I said I have 6 of them, alot cheaper the popping,$250 to $300 for the original kit, kuddos to Bandit for making these available to us! mikelo Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I think most of them are made from the same MPC kit. I got mine from the Goodstuff a while back and have been happy with it. This after getting one from another company that I have not seen mentioned yet, that was totally unusable. Did anyone else have to shorten the wheel base just a touch to get it to fit right? Here is a link to my friend Sean Svendsen who built one using the Model king version from model round up. I will let him explain how he did his. I had a Last Detail decal sheet that I shared with Sean, for the stripes. First mine (I will finish it some day) Here is a link to Sean's site; http://homepage.mac.com/ssven5/Sites/Svens...demon_page.html Hope this helps, Mike
