Very nice!! Q: I'm not a drag car guy, so I was wondering, what is that hook-thing coming down from the interior roof?

That is the parachute release handle. He just had the cable running up the roll bar to that spot where he could pull it.

Thanks!, I thought that's what it was, but wasn't sure. is it a good idea to take ones hands off the steering wheel of a drag car, even to just pull that?!  lmao

You can see Maverick at work driving the real thing here. Good footage of him pulling the chute at 1:25 into the video.

Great job on this one. Definitely one of the best builds of this kit I've ever seen.

Your door fitment just goes to show what some care, patience, and intelligent scale engineering can accomplish.

Preston, you've done this one proud! How about a shot of the chassis, and did you have any issues with loose fit on the front spindles either on the brake drums or on the axle?

Preston, that is top notch stuff! LRW is what's on the bench right now, hope I can get it at least half as good as yours.

Here's a few photos of one of the LRW that a person I know owns....................................

If I ever build mine in the stash, it's gonna look like this. Man that looks Bad A with those Draglites and those "meats" back there.

Thank you very much! Here's a link to my facebook page with the build photos. I did some modifications to both front and rear wheel mountings. Going by reference pics, the fronts in the kit had the large solid backings but the real truck had tiny little hubs that you could see through the wheels. I kitbashed the pieces needed to duplicate that best I could and still have them functional. They wobble a tiny bit when the model is lifted but there's no problem making them level sitting static. For the rears I had to modify the backings to fit the aftermarket slicks. They were slightly too small so they are super glued to the backs of the wheel faces. It was a bit tricky but they function as well.

Thanks! It's a tedious build but patience paid off. Good luck!

Good lookin' build on this tough kit. I've heard a lot of horror stories about it but it looks like you whipped 'er into shape.

Thank you. It is definitely a task. If you do plenty of planning ahead you can stop problem areas from happening too bad. There are some areas that lack detail in the kit so I had to scratch build and add some things.

Thanks for the info! Great photos.

I'm using that front axle on my '58 Ford. Ended up cutting the round part of the spindles way down and mating them to backing plates from the '60 Ranchero, which were attached to the Dodge drums with large flat retainers, then the drums were glued to the front mags with just enough clearance to still rotate. The spindles snap onto the kingpins so they steer fine; but there's just a bit of slop and I'm not risking too many test fits. Like you did, I also added the front shock mounts that IMC forgot.
