Chariots of Fire Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Be on the lookout in the near future for this to be cast. Things are in progress as we speak. The chassis and tires and wheels are just for mockup to see how things sit. Castings will also include the front bumper, running boards, steering wheel and column.
Foxer Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 That's a beautiful looking truck/casting!... from a sports car person
jeffs396 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 You did a GREAT job on it Charles! I'll be in for one when ready
disabled modeler Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 That is awesome..! sadly with my lack of any real budget I doubt Ill be able to get a hold of one but would like to...bummer.
Chariots of Fire Posted August 10, 2017 Author Posted August 10, 2017 I'm expecting to receive the first castings later this week for inspection. Will post pics as soon as they arrive.
1st 700 Quad Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Sweet! So many fire trucks built on this chassis. I can't wait.
Russell C Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I'd suggest a cowl-forward variant for those who want to do a school bus or Brinks-style armored truck.
leafsprings Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 (edited) Thanks for efforts Charles, the results are outstanding. I will definitely purchase a couple. This loadstar will help fill a void in the "classic" medium-heavy truck category left by the plastic people. These loadstars are very versatile, maybe a city tractor, stakebed, wrecker or 3 axle dump?. Can I interest you in doing a 60's 70's Chevy or GMC tilt cab next? Edited August 12, 2017 by leafsprings
Chariots of Fire Posted August 12, 2017 Author Posted August 12, 2017 I don't know about that, Tommy. The IH fills a void for sure but the Chevy or GMC I might have to leave to someone else.
Rob Hall Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 (edited) The Jimmy Flintstone oil tanker body would probably go with this...as a kid in the 70s, I remember we had home heating oil delivered to the farm and it was delivered in a red Loadstar tanker w a sloped rear...Landmark Oil IIRC was the company. Dave Toups Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 (edited) That looks great! I'm surprised no one's ever done one before. The Loadstar was used for all sorts of things. Around here, it seemed like every other farm had at least one! Edited August 18, 2017 by Dave Toups
