Warren23 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I wanted to do a WW2 themed hot rod drawing based on the P51 fighter plane. So below is the completed line art as well as a few progress pic's -
Draggon Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 That's some amazing work! Your avatar, "simpson artistry" pretty much explains it all
Foxer Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 loving watching the flow of shading and color here!
Warren23 Posted September 1, 2017 Author Posted September 1, 2017 Thanks for the kind words .... There is the final update and completed project - So the final piece I incorporated a roundel that I had previously done on Autodesk Sketchbook - the idea being to combine traditional art with digital art. The roundel was digitally placed onto the Hotrod and I found some vintage looking newspaper on the web for the background.
Snake45 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 It's a VERY cool piece of art, but I'm not seeing any connection with--or suggestion of--a P-51.

Lunajammer Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Whoa. That is some seriously marketable art. The texture, contrast, color is impeccable. Really the highest quality.
Snake45 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 The paint scheme on the hot rod I used from this - Ah, I get it now. Sort of. That airplane's paint job is actually sort of a mash-up of two or three or four real WWII Mustangs, with some liberties taken on top of that. So it kind of has the "flavor," but it's not authentic. BTW, if you'd like to put those big red bombs on your model, I can send you decals. They say DETROIT MISS, not NEVER MISS. I have several sets, as they were the kit decals in the Monogram 1/48 kit for years.
