moparfarmer Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Here is a picture of my 1970 Road Runner that is for our December meeting(Christmas) contest..Anything in the 70s..Installed a pillar post to make it like my real 1:1 was..Am going to use Rallye Wheels from either the Cuda or Challenger..Painted Duplicolor Perfect Match "B5" blue over Plasticote sandable primer(T235) Cleared with Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel(smells and dries like lacquer) On the first two color coats had some blushing but then shot another coat in another part of the basement..Went on good then did the clear..Not needing to wet sand but will just polish with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 or Cleaner, then finish with Meguiar's Gold Class Paste..Meguiar's is the only polish I've used for models and my 1:1 cars for the past 28 years..Hope you like...
Mr mopar Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Looks Cool with the post.................. is that the Revell 1/24 th kit ?
Geno Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Oh yeah, my favorite year RR, this is gonna be cool. You're off to a great start Wayne.
Andrew D the Jolly Roger Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Can't beat that kind of color! Nice!
High octane Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Lookin' real good as I've been thinkin' of painting my '70 Road Runner kit before the snow flies. I just love dem Mopars.
espo Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Great looking color. I like that you did the pillared coupe instead of the hardtop. This looks more like the basic low priced car that the Road Runner started out to be.
smhardesty Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Color looks great. Can't wait to see more! MOPAR, MOPAR, MOPAR.
Roadrunner Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Looks great. I just painted my 70 'Cuda a somewhat similar color, though I actually like yours more.
moparfarmer Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 Went to the"room " tonight and started polishing the 66 Nova..So I thought I would polish the roof of the Road Runner..Turned out okay but not as smooth as the Nova because I wet sanded it..Really thought the Road Runner and a 62 Fury I had done were good enough to just polish..Well I wet sanded the Road Runner now I've got to polish all of it..Went through on one side marker lite but they will be chromed then pained so it won't show..Hoping the paint shows like the roof of the Nova..Will work slowly as not to rush and screw thing up..Guess I should leave well enough alone..There is that little bit of OCD in me coming back..
Mike Chernecki Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) Wayne, looks good. I miss seeing your old Roadrunner. Where did you get the Duplicolor B5 blue? Edited August 29, 2017 by Mike Chernecki
moparfarmer Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Mike I got it from Canadian Tire years ago..Its not the correct B5 Blue from that year but its as close as you'll get now..Its in the small can not like the Perfect Match they have now..You might find a B5 now, it will be from the new Challenger from a few years ago..Go to Gauthiers and ask for Kelsey and get her to order you a can....The clear made it look a little darker too...Nice talking to you and how are you doing?
Mike Chernecki Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Doing good, busy working. Will be at the Garden City show, maybe will see you there?
moparfarmer Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Won't be there..Too hard to walk and would have to get up at an ungodly time for a space..I will be at the Gauthier Show on Regent on Monday..Its an all Mopar show..
Mike Chernecki Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Oh ok, is that a replacement for the Depot show?
NYLIBUD Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Looks great...The 70 RR is by far,my favorite Mopar, and my favorite car.Look at that grill, and the body lines.Good luck with the car.I'll be following this one....Oh and great color..lol
