Hey, Fellas, I need a dark red/crimson color that's non-metallic to do my next project's interior with. I'll be painting the body either a deep blue or a dark gray. The paint needs to be in a spray can.

Anyone have an example of an interior they've done with this color? Pics would be awesome.......

Thanks for any help!

I'd say go to Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Hobby Lobby and see what they have in the Krylon and Rustoleum lines. I'll bet they have something that will work for you.

In fact, at Walmart just this morning I was looking at a Krylon red that I wouldn't call especially bright, but I don't know if it would be dark enough for what you want.

Come to think of it, you can go on the Krylon and Rustoleum websites and look at all their different colors in their various rattlecan lines.

You might take a look at Duplicolor Dark Canyon Red , it may be darker than you want  (not my build, just a google pic)100_1414-vi.thumb.jpg.f2c05708c3b041506c

I used it for the dash and package tray and Krylon Banner Red for the rest Satin clear used on top

Thanks for the replies, Guys...... I was just looking at images of oxblood interiors, and that is about the color I would need. Does anyone make an oxblood color that's non-metallic? I've found some paints close in color, but they were metallic.......

You might try Tamiya TS-33 Dull Red. It's non metallic and a flat finish. If you need a little more sheen you could dust it with their Semi-Gloss. As always picnic spoons are your friend.

The C3 Corvettes had a leather color called Oxblood, which seems to be fairly close to the shade you're looking for.  They may be a little pricey but a number of companies offer actual interior dyes in spray can.

Less expensive options:

You may also want to check out Rust-oleum Merlot Red and Colonial Red

If you want to stick with hobby paints, Humbrol offers their Crimson in a spray can.  IIRC, you can get it in either enamel or acrylic.  Here's a start.

Don't overlook red primers. I've seen some that are in that "oxblood" neighborhood, and you can hit it with a satin or semigloss clearcoat for a leather or vinyl look.

Thanks, guys, from looking around on the forum and online, it may be Colonial Red that I use. and I can get it in satin, which is nice.........

At Walmart this morning, I saw a Krylon Satin Burgundy that looks amazingly close to your photo above.

That's good looking out there, Snake..... I looked it up online and it IS very very close to the color in the pic.

I just finished a '27 Ford speedster with that Krylon burgundy.I shot it with Krylon grey primer then used gloss black as the base for the burgundy. End result is exactly what I wanted. I discovered this by spraying the same burgundy on a spoon primed with Krylon white primer as well as one with the gloss black and was amazed at the difference. You could flatten the burgundy with either a satin or flat top coat to replicate leather or cloth.
