Nice to finally see a 1970 Charger ! Yes , the in-every-kit Hemi is a disappointment ( c'mon , guys ! Why not a 440 Six Pack ?????? ) ; however , it's still leaps & bounds better than :

MPC annual ( and its outrageous prices ! )

- Resin conversions ( no disrespect to Missing Link and their gorgeous piece )

- Yet another freakin' 1969 / General Lee !

Options would have been a nice touch ( e.g. , the 440 Six Pack ; TorqueFlite ; 8 3/diff ; "W11" wheel covers ; period-correct custom wheels [ Spyders , please ! ] ; S.E. trim , etc. , etc. ) .

OR, heaven forbid! We get a model of the most prevalent version, bench seat, column shift automatic, vinyl top, 383, (either carb option), IF we want to build the Hemi four speed version pretty near everything is already out there, just dig in the stash and put it together.

Niiice! at last we have a corrected taillight!

And for the first time, correct hemi leaf springs chassis boxes, seems all of the small details are nailed in!

I'm on for at least 2...

I'm really excited about the separate door scoops. For absolutely once, a manufacturer has made it easier to make a lesser model by leaving parts off. Grab a '68 Dart for the engine and rear, and you're on the way to a 383-powered Charger, SE or Charger 500.

Also, I'd like to try those scoops on some different cars...

Lots of parts swap possibilities.   I can see putting on the Rallye wheels from the '70 Cuda, a 440 from an AMT '69 GTX, etc....I have '70 style dog dishes, steelies and AMT white letter tires I want to use on one.   Maybe the '70 Polara hubcaps I got from FMW.

I've been trying to find a photo of a base '70 rear end--I assume the trim between the taillights is different on a base Charger than the R/T?

I might be one of the few, but I'd like to see a small block for new release MOPARs. The 318 was available on '70 Chargers. Of course, so was the 6 cyl, but I'd pass on that. Yeah, big block MOPARs are impressive all right, but a good 318 or 340 provided plenty of scoot too.

Oh- this SOOOO begs for a new-tool 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. Hey Revell- we need one of these even if it's just to supply us with a nice Mopar small block. I bought LOTS of AMT '71 Dusters and Revell '68-'69 Darts for their A-Body chassis and engines!!!

X2 for the 1970 Swinger

While a 318 was an option (truly , standard fare with the Charger) , the 340 didn't hit the option sheet until 1971 for the one-year-only Charger Super Bee .

And , YES ! Pretty please with cherries on top , a 1970 Swinger 340 !!

I'm figuring we will never see a 318 in scale (except in 1/24, in the Monogram Ramcharger) but a 340 would be easy enough to dress to look like one. ?

Oh boy, oh joy another Hemi engine. My kit will be sitting on the "pile" for awhile as I have other kits I have in mind to build first.

The "another Hemi" is my only real complaint about the kit. I'd rather have the standard 440 with the single 4-barrel. Maybe it's not as exciting as a Hemi or a Six-Pack. But, it's engine I would wanted to have in a real '70 Charger R/T. I'm not just into drag racing and quarter mile times. Besides the 440 single 4-barrel was not that much slower than the Hemi. It was a lot less fussy to keep in tune. Less of a gas hog. And could be had with factory air conditioning. Make mine a single 4-barrel 440, or in other MoPars a 383. Enough with the Hemis.

Does the Monogram Ramcharger have a 318? I always thought that was a 360 in that one?

I would think that the 318 and 360 of that era would be indistinguishable in scale.

I'm with you, and with a well tuned 440 motor, I wouldn't be afraid of no Hemi engine.

Yeah... but in the world of sales, someone who doesn't know about this car in general, future modelers that may come around, or a grandparent that buys the kids something by picture alone... my grandma did this... the word "HEMI" grabs attention.

I'm curious as to how different the chassis, suspension, and engine will be from the earlier '68 and '69 versions. Will Revell be smart and use them or pull what they did with the '67 Firebird and '67 and '69 Camaros and end up with three different chassis pans and suspension pieces and two different big block Chevy engines in the Camaro kits?

For the more base-level taillight treatment, you can find that in last year's Fast & Furious variation of this tooling.  Good to see the full-width taillight and door scoop covers nailed down absolutely for this version.

And as you can see from the F&F kit or the instruction sheet in this one, the molds are all-new straight down to the chassis and suspension, though they hew very closely in appearance to the '68/'69 tooling. Axle pins and no positional steering this time.
