Roadrunner Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 OK, fellas, I snatched this image somewhere (perhaps here, I don't really recall), and have no idea what the car may be. I'm guessing 60's something, but that's about as far as I get. Any ideas?
Deano Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) I believe it's a 57 Cadillac. Edited September 13, 2017 by Deano
espo Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Ditto, and the fuel filler is behind the driver's side tail light.
Roadrunner Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 Cool, thanks, guys. I'll look up both 57 and 58 Cadillac, and see what I come up with.
landman Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 It is a 57 and is missing the louvres in the exhaust opening. The 58 is similar but has an "eyebrow" over the round lights.
iamsuperdan Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Yup, '57 Cadillac. And once you see "The Scream" you can never un-see it!
Roadrunner Posted September 14, 2017 Author Posted September 14, 2017 (edited) Yup, '57 Cadillac. And once you see "The Scream" you can never un-see it! Excellent, thanks very much, Dan. It's amazing to me how much I don't know about older cars. Edited September 15, 2017 by Roadrunner
Russell C Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 ... once you see "The Scream" you can never un-see it!Exactly. I'm stuck with it now.
Roadrunner Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 Exactly. I'm stuck with it now. Me too.
ChrisBcritter Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 (edited) The '58's face is a bit friendlier, and resembles a certain cartoon dog: Edited September 15, 2017 by ChrisBcritter
StevenGuthmiller Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Stop it guys! You're beginning to make me really want a nice '57/'58 Caddy kit!! Steve
iamsuperdan Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 While we're at it, how about the Mercedes clown face? Again, once you see it...
waynehulsey Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 My dad bought a 57 Cadillac in about 62: pink with a gray interior. Ugliest car he ever owned in my opinion. I hated that thing. That's why in the last few years were everyone got all excited on late 50's pink Cadillacs I just couldn't understand it at all. Another guy in my class parents had the twin to it. We used to moan to each other about our misfortune when somebody would make fun of them.

We used to moan to each other about our misfortune when somebody would make fun of them. I owned a '58 Series '62 Coupe in pink. It wasn't pink, it was coral, "Tahitian Coral" to be exact, with a black top & a tri-tone pink black & rose colored interior. Absolutely beautiful in my opinion. Everybody's taste is different, but I'll bet that if you had that pink '57 today, you would be the envy of everybody in town. This is not a photo of mine, but you'll get the general idea. Steve
waynehulsey Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 The only reason I would want it is because I could probably sell it quick for a pocketful of cash. Didn't like those big late 50's American cars then, don't like them now. But as you say everybody's taste is different.
Roadrunner Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 Nice photos, guys, and yes, that pink Cadillac, is most certainly gorgeous.
