Usually I'm kind of going "meh" but at the same time, I can appreciate the returns of old tool kits as well as seeing them improve on the '16 Camaro tool which has gotten better and better with every subsequent release. Not to mention, friggin' simulated denim fabric seats yo on the AMC, I'm in!

The Petty hauler will be a welcome addition. I remember building this one years ago when it had a Ford Mustang included. The possibilities for this hauler are great. The Gremlin X is also a nice model.

It's probably time for the Grant King Sprint Car to be released again, maybe it's one that's going to a dual kit with the Ford Hauler, or even the Pinto or Mustang II bodied modified kits, their wheelbase would fit the trucks built in wheel divits better than the sprint, and they'd look just about period perfect together. Especially if they had the Troyer decals with the Pinto again.

The Grant King car is one I've been wondering about for awhile. It's one I'd buy. Also the Agajanian car even if it is completely accurate and the Gurney Lotus.

The Petty hauler will be a welcome addition.

Both were available as separate kits in the last few years, so other than the "43" decals for the hauler, there's little-to-nothing "new" besides both being packaged together:

Who ever thought we would ever see this set reissued? The story goes that when this was originally put out in the early '70's, Lee Petty balked because they raced Mopars and a Ford Hauler was included, so that limited production. I guess that doesn't figure now, since the Petty team races Fords, and they have a long Mopar heritage.

That's a Petty argument ...

The story I heard, even in Stock Car Racing magazine at the time wasn't that Lee Petty complained about it being a Ford truck, but was a MoPar factory rep that complained about the Ford truck. Maybe it was a Lee, but not a Petty, but when did Iacocca leave Ford for MoPar? Maybe it was an Iacocca instead of a Petty that shot it down. -??

When this was first issued, at least as I remember it, they included a '70's Mustang fastback. Remember that Petty drove Fords for one season, I think it was '69. I still think it's nice to have either of the kits back I think they should have offered the '69 Torino that Petty raced that year.

Correct- I think it was the AMT 1970 Mustang Mach Won Funny car. By the time the hauler came out, I think the Pettys had moved on from Ford. Searching online, it looks like the Petty team used a cabover Ford Transporter truck during the Torino Era.

& no complaints from me- the hauler is a really cool kit. The Petty set used to bring big bucks, at least until both kits were reissued, so I'm sure there will be a few collectors who either be very happy to see it reissued, or very unhappy to see it reissued...
