Olle F Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I was cleaning up some files on my computer today, and happened to find some pictures of a model I built about 15 years ago. As I don't build much anymore, I thought I could just as well post them to show that I did actually build some back then... This was one of my first attempts to weather a model so there's a lot of things I could have done better, but I sure did enjoy building it and I still hope you'll like it:
Kombi Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 That's just awesome. Really terrific details there and the weathering looks perfect!

Modellpularn Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Hej Olle! Ohh cool, you found one of my favorite models! I remember when I saw this one for the first time, I just thought it was SO COOL!! All the neat little details you incorporated, and the fact that you called it the "Old Unreliable"..... How did you do the lettering? I mean, the changed letters were so right. It has character, attitude, and still looks like a race car, but it has seen better days. A masterpiece! I think it would stand up(out) in a contest today, no question about it, old friend.... So where is it now? Back in the "old country", or stateside?
Olle F Posted June 26, 2008 Author Posted June 26, 2008 Thanks y'all, glad you liked it! It was a lot of fun to build, and I actually started to build another and even more detailed '61 Chevy "beater" many years ago. I might even finish it one day. Hej Olle! So where is it now? Back in the "old country", or stateside? Thanks Hasse, I'm really happy that someone remembers my old models! The lettering is a combination of the decals from the kit (some were cut and rearranged a bit) and dry transfers. Unfortunately, I had to leave my models in my parent's house when I moved from Sweden, but I'm hoping that I can bring them over here one day. I just don't know how to do it in a safe way, I might just have to put them in my carry-on next time I go.
Guest Davkin Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Cool idea and executed very well. Congrats. David

Dr. Cranky Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Absolutely beautiful. The details are perfect. Doctor Cranky and EYEGORE love this model. You gotta do another one, 15 years later . . . LONG LIVE RUST! Perfect eye candy.
W-409 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 WOW, this one is real great model! I like the weathering on it, just perfect. It looks like it has been last 30 years in somekind of barn. Excellent job on it, really great end result.
CorvairJim Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 As I was looking at the pictures of this model, I kept asking myself, "How'd he do that"? You say thefre's a lot you think you can improve on, but I sure don't see anything. You absolutely NAILED the look of an old, forgotten 1/4 mile warrior, but in a whimsical way considering all the little "Gotchas" in the decals. (One question: Who is John Thomas? )
Terror Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) You should start building again, quit depriving us of this great work. Edited September 13, 2011 by Terror
