Safire6 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 New guy here and posting pics for the first time.....hope this works! My first car was a '65 Ford Galaxie 500 that I bought from my parents in 1975. The paint scheme on the model matches that car.
Safire6 Posted November 4, 2017 Author Posted November 4, 2017 Well that looked like it worked so here's a couple more.....
Safire6 Posted November 4, 2017 Author Posted November 4, 2017 Thanks Cobraman! Posting pics is easier than I expected!
donb Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 (edited) One of my favorite cars. I think that styling was exceptional. You did the car justice too. Great color combo. Edited November 4, 2017 by donb
carman1 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Nice, I like white cars with red interiors, very classy .
Dann Tier Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Looks VERY nice!!....outstanding job on those taillights!!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Welcome!! And great choice for first post, just the best looking car of the '60s. Very nicely done. Try your hand at foiling it, and it will look even better.
PARTSMARTY Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Looks awesome and welcome to the forum !!!
bbowser Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Great model, those of cars we've owned are the most satisfying. Keep them coming.
espo Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Great looking model. I'll bet the original served you well. I also agree wit the others the White with a Red interior has a very classic look that will never go out of style.
Safire6 Posted November 4, 2017 Author Posted November 4, 2017 Thanks everyone for your comments! But Tulio-what is foiling? I've got a lot to learn from you guys and girls! Steve
kelson Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Nice work!looking forward to seeing more of your builds
Geno Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Nice looking '66 Steve, my Uncle Charlie had a dark green '66, man I loved that car. Welcome aboard.
RestoModGuy Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Nice! Sharp ride and great looking build, welcome to the forum
Lovefordgalaxie Posted November 5, 2017 Posted November 5, 2017 Thanks everyone for your comments! But Tulio-what is foiling? I've got a lot to learn from you guys and girls! Steve Foiling is using metal foil to simulate the real chrome trim on model cars. There is a commercial product called bare Metal Foil, that is the easiest way to do it. Imagine household aluminum foil, with adhesive backing. Cut a piece slightly larger than the trim you want to "chrome", apply it on the model, burnish it well, and cut the excess with a brand new hobby knife. I make my own foil, but BMF can be found easily on ebay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnyC0MmXLDw
Safire6 Posted November 5, 2017 Author Posted November 5, 2017 Thanks for the explanation and video Tulio! I'll give that a try on one of my next builds. Possibly on a '68 VW Beetle.
El Caballo Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 I'm almost done with the same model, but mine is a bit different take, soon to come.
Hmann68 Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Love your Galaxie! As the others said, the color combo is great!
