Ok, question on Amnesty builds

I’ve seen this on many build threads but not quite sure, but what exactly is an Amnesty Build?????

Hopefully Tom Geiger will chime in as he does this a lot. But the general idea is to complete a build that has been sitting on the back burner for awhile. Between Christmas and the New Year, he takes a model that he has started and has been sitting for awhile ignored and starts working on it to bring it to completion. Basically a push to finish at least one unfinished model.

You said it well!   And this year's 1963 Valiant stock car is kicking my tail right now!  Still trying to get a credible roll cage built. Argh!

That SHOULD be this one for me. Just needs the BMF done and then get the grille and bumpers on. Been staring at me too long! Stop it, will you!?!? Stop staring at me!!!

I was wondering the same thing myself. I call those "Escapes from the Shelf of Doom."

Now it makes sense!!!!  Thanks gents and if I was to get into an amnesty build I wouldn’t know which one to start!!!  I have about 35 to 45 in progress projects with some being close to completion but which one to get into eludes me!!!!! Working on my Autocar rig now but it won’t be done by the years end!!!!

I wondered about what Amnesty builds were.  Got a couple I'll have to pick back up.

The Valiant - the old file photo. This one was up on wheels in 2007.  It's been back in the box ever since...

The stall point on it was deciding on and fabricating an interior.  I've solved that issue.

But... as I was sitting back admiring my progress last evening I noticed something... I used a chassis from an old built up. I saw that the original builder put the right side wheel assembly on upside down. So the car will not sit flat.  Now I need to do something about that before I can move forward.  It's also been too cold to paint this week, AND now I woke up to friggin snow.

Alright!! Get off my case! Lol.

I finally broke down today and started the BMF on my El Camino to get it finished. Been working on it for a couple of hours and now I have to stop so I can head to a wedding. Once I get home though, it's dinner and then full speed ahead! Look for a build thread in the Workbench section later tonight. Thanks Doc for the encouragement.

This year I finished up a Testor Chezoom I started and painted when it first came out. What was that, 1992, 93? So I guess that's an "amnesty build." Definitely an escape from my Shelf of Doom.
