BIGTRUCK Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 (edited) I was looking for some parts in a big bin and came across three 49 Ford bodies in various stages of junk. I found enough parts to build something. The best unmolested body had so much paint you could barley see the door lines. I soaked all 3 in Super Clean, the paint on the red one with the altered roof never budged, the grey one cleaned up but the body was cut up. The heavy painted Ford came out pretty good but was missing the fender wells , so I cut the firewall / fender wells out of the grey one. Altered the interior tub to fit in the 56 T-Bird V-8, and this is the outcome so far. Edited January 2, 2018 by BIGTRUCK
Stephen82kck Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 Gonna be awesome. I personally would spray some satin clear on that body leaving it with almost a patina style paint.
espo Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I love this kit. You might try Brake Fluid on the Red body, or just put it back in the Purple Pond and have patience.
BIGTRUCK Posted January 7, 2018 Author Posted January 7, 2018 (edited) After cleaning up the body and sanding the filler I stacked up some evergreen and formed a new hood ornament. Using the Hudson visor as a template I made a visor for the Ford. Also smoothed tail light area and added bullet shaped lenses. Edited January 7, 2018 by BIGTRUCK

Stephen82kck Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 The visor makes it right there. Definitely a build to keep tabs on.
BIGTRUCK Posted January 10, 2018 Author Posted January 10, 2018 I thought about a black primer finish but I think shooting Tamiya gloss black with a dull coat top coat has a better look. Interior is white and black satin finish with a candy red dash,. I was leaving the red rims until I found these old spinner hub caps. A little bit of chrome should break up all the black. This is the final ride height , plus I have everything to get it done now.
Codi Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Gotta agree with Slotto on this one, it is "slick" and "sick" at the same time Ken. Like it a lot! cheers, tim
BIGTRUCK Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 This one is pretty much done just need to put on the spotlights and round mirror. Its not a fancy or hard to get kit, it just another abandoned kit that got new life, and I have a few kits I abandoned that I need to get finished one day. Chrome foiled interior
Slomoslam Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Well that turned out great. Super clean and the black looks perfect with that body. Nice work.
TarheelRick Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Really sweet old style custom. Reminds me of the time a couple of friends would get together in a garage and put something together. Thanks for sharing it.
