Hard to tell - but the rims have shoulders - the castings need a softer “shape” or profile …. The wheel to the right has these changes …

This was done by chucking the  wheel into a lathe - hand set and tighten - gotta be careful - and then sanding the rim with sanding sticks - inside and out ..

Nice wheels rims …

your research suggests that the tires were painted white - or possibly the carcouses were white rubber with oil, gravel, and dirt staining the tread - which do you think ? ??

The radiator shell is polished German Nickel Silver - same as the contemporary Bugattis - I think - anyhow i chose the Alclad airframe aluminum rather than trying the molitov or the green stuff -

Tires white in 1925? I don't think so. My general impression is that all manufacturers past the mid teens made black, or dark tires. Here is a 1925 Michelin ad of that tire.

Got it. That michelin man is awesome - and the restored car does have black tires. The white appearance on the side walls  on the bl wh photos is perhaps exposure ?

Poor Torchy ...  car #13 - which is actually not this survivor

Concept Cars ID's this car as chassis # 3  - NOT -supercharged

note the unpaved course ...

paved grand prix tracks were not yet a thing ...

and it appears from MotorsportsImages.com  that our survivor was first driven in the 1924 French Grand Prix by Benoist:

placed third - car number 9 ...

probably rubber black tires ...

hard to research grand prix races fr 1924

very few pix  - didn't anyone have I phones back then?

Just to make this worse ….  This photo in ebay shows a 2LCV that same year with white side walls in the fronts but apparently not the rears ….  OK !!

Chucking the tires onto my sherline allows me to clean and shape the castings w sanding sticks - followed by a coat of Tamiya rubber black - rather than flat black - because there were no synthetic rubber tires in 1925 !

In period vs restored trailer queen ….   The restored 2LCV wears Dunlops with accurate pre-war tread patterns - as on page one of the thread - now no expense was spared in the resto - but in period Michelins do not exist - even faux tires - so what would Louis Delage think of his beauty riding on Dunlops - what’s French for “sad face” ??  Anyway Pico drew designed and printed the correct in period Michelins - which means i should try to finish this in-period - still undecided about race numbers … and was the number painted on the radiator stone guard - or the radiator ??

oy vey - that’s French

- for oy vey …

Beautiful wire wheels.

The machine turned aluminium finish is hard to achieve on compound curves.. Maybe doing it on flat piece of malleable material and shaping it afterwards might work better to achieve the equally spaced look.

Axle in - lots of epoxy but none will show once  the under - frame panel is installed -

the radiator is epoxied in too  -  sets back maybe .030 too far in the shell - but it won’t be very apparent once the stone screen is attached …
