I usually Sharpie the drip rails, but didn't on this one for some reason. Looking at the pics, I think it might have been because I didn't like the way they curve at the very lower rear edge--doesn't look right and I didn't want to highlight that.

I might be interested in that Charger 500 grille, but not for this--wouldn't waste it on this hot mess. I have a spare Charger 500 unbuilt body (have no recollection of when or how I got it) and if I could come up with the right hood (do you have that, too?) I could probably get a good Charger 500 together. Or if YOU want to do a Charger 500 (seems like something in your wheelhouse), maybe we can work something out. B)

I have a few of the 500 kits as well as several of the MPC Daytona kits ( they grill is  on same chrome tree ) So Im good

But I will have to ck and see if I have an extra/spare hood ( not likely )

I'm gonna look and see if there are two hoods in the Revell '68 Charger, which I just got one of, or if it has the right kind of vents I could sili-clone and graft into the common "soft vent" hood.

You're right about having the eye/ vision of what things CAN turn into when tackling one of these kinds of projects. I've performed a few restos myself and know the kind of work it takes to turn out a good ending. You've certainly attained that here with this build Rich.

Bringing them back to life is fun, isn't it? Even better in some ways than building up a brand new kit. B)

Yeah Snake I love bringing them back to life too.  I usually find it more fun than doing a new one.  Anyhow your Charger looks great Richard!- Mark

Thanks. It takes what that Mike guy on the American Pickers show would call "a good eye." Not every glue bomb is a candidate for one of these quickie refurbs. You're looking for something complete, undamaged by breakage or glue, and with fairly decent paint. And, if it's a commonly available kit, CHEAP. There's no sense in spending a dime on anything that you'll have to paint-strip and repaint if you can go buy a complete, mint, unbuilt kit at Hobby Lobby for $15 or so. Now, if a subject is rare or long OOP,  that's a different game. Such a glue bomb is worth more money and more investment of time and effort.

The other trick is, when you start on one of these projects, set your bar low and keep it low. To keep a project quick and cheap, forget any notion of turning it into an "A-build" showpiece. Personally, my goal is just to get it to look as good as something I might have built and been proud of when I was 14-16 years old. If something comes out better than that, I'm especially pleased.

I hope I'm inspiring others to "rescue" some worthy glue bombs. I hate to see a savable model tossed in the trash. B)

Snake, yes, I am inspired by what you do. The results you get for the effort involved is very efficient. I have a couple of old builds that will get some Snake-Fu someday.

Job well done. You have a steady hand with that silver Sharpie.

Thanks for the kind words, fellows. Model on, and save those glue bombs! B)
