HDDan Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Here we go. I think that I will attempt to cut the doors and do some carpet on this one. I am open to any suggestions on flocking or embossing powder. What are your thoughts
cobraman Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I used flocking for years. I did buy some embossing powder to try buy my one and only attempt was less than great.
D. Battista Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Cool project ...! Haven't seen one of these in years...!
TOYCARTEC Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Have to watch this build. I have this kit and have been thinking about building it too

HDDan Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 The door is ajar. Wow that was tedious
DiscoRover007 Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I’ve never used embossing powder. I like having real carpet like texture though so I stick to regular stuff. I use spray adhesive though and I think it works much better than the white glue method. You might have to apply it 1-2 times for full coverage. Anything you miss can be patched with the white glue method later.
89AKurt Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Gor for it! Cutting out the doors is half the challenge, doing hinges that work is still a bugger for me. I have never tried flocking, looks like another bugger. I was recently turned onto Zero Designs self-adhesive carpet, worked great so far.https://www.hiroboy.com/Red_Self_Adhesive_Flocking_Sheet--product--5152.html
HDDan Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 After getting started on the doors I opened the rest of the kit only to find ,or should I say not find, any of the clear parts. No windows, headlights, break lights or turn signals. I sent a request into revel let's see how this plays out.?
HDDan Posted February 26, 2018 Author Posted February 26, 2018 Trying out some 1mm think felt for the carpet. It's just a dry fit but doesn't look bad. I might go back and get the right color. I think they all came with a grey carpet.
Jordan White Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I will say the two issues with the kit are glueing on the rear bumper, and getting the hood to sit properly. Otherwise it builds up nicely!
HDDan Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 I was not happy with the wheels in this kit and the way they go together. I decided to cut the inner spokes and hub then re glue it to make a more realistic wheel.
HDDan Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Look at the cute little plug wires! That was a tight fit.
HDDan Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 Got the suspension parts painted. Lots of work on something that can't be seen. That's what we do ?
HDDan Posted March 23, 2018 Author Posted March 23, 2018 Making some progress. This May be the last time I cut doors. Every time I test fit something I have to modify something else.
rsxse240 Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 I have heard so many horror stories of this model. It is a gorgeous model but it is such a pain to build.

GerN Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 (edited) Why does the Aurora/Northstar engine in this kit only have plug coils on one bank of cylinders? After a quick search, answered my own question. Each coil should have two plug wires, as seen in this photo. The handwritten numbers identify the cylinder. No distributor, just sensors and an ignition control module. Edited March 23, 2018 by GerN

My 98 Camry v6 had them. This is a 99 model.
