I can assure you that his stuff is absolutely the best quality available. The parts are unique in that he produces a great line of nostalgia speed eqt parts and other similar parts no available from any other source. The castings are accurate and perfectly to scale.

Except when they're not.

Everything I have from him IS INDEED VERY VERY NICE, but the P-11A Weber carbs that are labeled incorrectly as either IDAs or DCOEs are problematical. Weber carbs can be EITHER sidedraft OR downdraft, and you CAN NOT use one for the other...and they don't look alike, either.

Well, maybe sorta. To a blind guy.

Nice to know that you seemingly have encyclopedic knowledge of all things mechanical that not all of us have. I personally have had nothing but excellent results with everything I have ever gotten from R&M,but have somewhere little and no mechanical ability at my disposal.Pretty much anything more mechanical than a bra hook or a zipper....I'm yelling for help. I have been building for over 60 years and have always had  built according to what I see and not what I know. That seems to have served me pretty well over the years and is not likely to change any time soon.

No need to get snippy.

Everything else (and I have a LOT of his stuff) I've ever bought from Norm has been A+ #1 table-grade beautiful.

But if a part is WRONG (you might remember, I've made my living building and tuning and preparing and racing REAL cars for a large part of the last 50 years), I'm not going to say it's right just to be nice.

EDIT: The Webers I referenced ARE CORRECT for ONE APPLICATION...I don't recall whether it's side or downdraft right now...but NOT BOTH.

Here is recent abbreviated price list from last May.  I have known Norm for 30 years.  He is an old school guy (no website) and I'm guessing he is about 70 years old.  Give him a call if there are issues with the accuracy of any of his products. I would venture to say 99% of his customers are very satisified.

Grab his parts when you can fellas! We're all not getting any younger, and the time will come when Norm no longer wants to cast, and enjoy retirement. And yes, Norm I believe is at least 70 now. I've known Norm for years and you've never met a nicer guy and an excellent caster/businessman.

Not to be sounding dour, but time does march on.........

Have you bothered to let Norm know that one of his products is incorrect ? I'm sure he would adjust his description to whatever is correct.

The Replicas catalog from May 2017 shows:

RM-114  1/25 Weber carbs and manifold for small block Ford - in my hands, it has the correct 48IDA down draft carbs

P-11A  1/25 Weber carbs - DCOE side draft type - perhaps somebody can comment about them...

P-11B  1/25 Weber Carbs - IDA down draft type - same carbs as RM-114

P-133 4 cylinder hop-up kit - for the AMT Meyers Manx - these are also correct down draft type

I've bought parts from Norm for let's say 30 years - always great resin and a fun guy to work with - he'll always call if there is a question.  The only thing I don't like is that he's on the other coast and I probably won't get a chance to meet him in person.

P-11A says DCOEs can be used as down drafts. That's as realistic as mounting a Holley 4-barrel upside down and calling it an updraft.

judging by the price, that is an old package

on a model car, they would work fine, no loss in performance...

So will a Holley mounted upside down. Who cares about accuracy or realism, right?

You know...I don't understand why any of you guys getting in such a snit because I had the unmitigated audacity to mention one thing that's wrong from R&M...especially in light of the fact that I was the one to post the contact information for Norm, and otherwise, I HAVE NOTHING BUT THE HIGHEST PRAISE FOR EVERYTHING I'VE EVER BOUGHT FROM HIM.

but you mention it over and over and over - we get it...

I mentioned it precisely ONCE. Any subsequent mention in THIS thread, by ME, was in response to argumentative responses.

And Weber carbs, including those from R&M, have been discussed on the board previously.

Curse you, Mr. Engwer. I was already to use my resin copies of the AcMin Vette Webers vertically on my Al Groom tribute custom.  Then I read this topic.  Oh well, back to the workbench.

Your good info was appreciated.
