unclescott58 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Greg started what I thought was an interest discussion questioning why we don't have any decent plastic Crosley kits on the market. I thought the discussion was going along fine. I saw nothing really offensive going on. In fact I found the opinions given there quite fun and informative. Then, all of sudden, yesterday afternoon, the thread was locked. I'm wondering if anybody can tell me what happen. Why was this thread all of sudden locked?
Psychographic Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I just read it and it had obviously run off subject with talk of radios, potatoes, and such. I'm sure if it had stayed on subject it would still be up.
SfanGoch Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Somebody has a very low trigger level when deciding to do this. If that's the reason, 90% of all threads should be locked because of off subject replies/comments posted. Same with the R&M thread in AM/Resin.
Xingu Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I locked it. Several posts were reported as off-topic and as I read through the entire thread, I found it was more than just a few posts that were off topic. There was also an argument brewing between two longtime members here. That is why it was locked.
unclescott58 Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 Okay. It may have strayed for topic a bit. But, in general I thought it was being done in a light hearted way.

Usually, in the course of any human discourse that's not being conducted under formal rules...like a courtroom setting...there's a pretty fair amount of off-topic digression going on, as one idea triggers another. Often times, that also affords opportunities for inserting some humor. I wasn't aware that differences of opinion weren't tolerated here...only when behavior moved on to personal attacks did I think the moderators would step in. I guess it's just a sign of the times.
unclescott58 Posted March 6, 2018 Author Posted March 6, 2018 I was hoping to learn more about making models out potatoes. ? Plus I was hoping to hear people's thoughts on out running meat eating dinosaurs using a Crosley. I'd hate to have another incident like we had with Ugh. Off topic? Yes. A little. Was I having fun with it? Yes. But, I also did not know about an issue brewing between two long time members here. I love Crosleys. But, learned years ago they are not cars to be taken too seriously. In the local Crosley club we do a lot of talking and joking about a variety of things. At those same local meetings, we even talk about Crosley automobiles once in a while. And we occasionally will talk about Crosley radios, appliances, and other things built and owned by Powel Crosley over the years. We also have gotten into arguments on occasion. But, in the end we've done a pretty job of staying civil and friends. The next Crosley club meeting is this next Monday. I wonder what we'll talk about? Will we get around to talking about Crosley automobiles? Its possible. But, I know that we'll have fun either way.
#1 model citizen Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 HMMM... Seems like we have another off topic Crosley kit thread going! What to do? Circle the Crosleys! That should repel any off topic comments & the dinosaurs won't be able to penetrate, either!
Jon Cole Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 A little sarcasm can lighten the mood, and make a conversation seem better than it was. Man, this place is getting stale. Makes me wish Harry was still with us.
Mark Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Next up: The "Crosley kit thread was locked" thread locked...
misterNNL Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 In case anyone is interested I have a whole Pintrest album titled " Crosley vehicles" that features some neat photos .There are three Crosleys parked within 100 feet of a road I travel regularly so I really should stop and take some detail photos of those before they're gone. There's a wagon , a convertible and a pickup all in a neat little row.
