landman Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 I bought this as a 302. Looking to ID what kit it came out of.
Chuck Most Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Looks to be from one of the Revell '32 Ford Street rod kits. The '90's era 1:25 kit, not the old Monogram based one.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Yup. And with those valve covers, it could represent just about anything in the Ford smallblock Windsor family.

Toner283 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Need any more of them? I have several that I am not going to use. My build style leans more towards flatheads and early OHV engines.

Right here at hand I have 5 of the exact same 5.0L engine that you have, 2 of the same basic 5.0L engine but fuel injected (one with finned valve covers) and 2 of the 4.6L cobra DOHC engines from the AMT phantom vicky. All of those already clipped from the sprues and bagged complete. Plus several more of the 5.0L engines injected and carbureted that I could remove from kits if needed.

I you want to off the wheels and tires from any of those kits I may be interested.
oldnslow Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Hey Chris , I'd like the 4.6L engines , what do you need ?
440 Dakota Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 nice looking kit that I missed, is this issue the same but with extra stuff ??

That kit is a 5 window body the one shown above is a 3 window. They are however based on the same architecture and parts are easily interchangeable. The 5 window is packed full of extra hot rod goodies. It has the carbureted 5-layer shown above plus a fairly well detailed Hemi. Two sets of wheels, one set of torque thrusts and a set of steelies with caps and rings. Only one set of tires though and the whitewalls shown on the box are decals. It has hairpin radius rods or four bars for the front axle it also has the little chrome nerf bumpers as well as full width bumpers. It also has a coice of separate decklid. Either a smooth stock one or the one with the louvers that you see being used on many different builds. Other than Revell slightly dropping the ball on the rear steelie rims (the offset is kind of screwy), this is an excellent kit to build and a gold mine for parts. I have several that I have robbed parts out of.
440 Dakota Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Thanks for the info, not sure how I missed the 3 window 5 window difference, gotta start paying attention

I looked at several 302s on the web and I think this version could be a crate engine. What do you think? Valve covers (both versions) , air cleaner appear to be aftermarket. And it has a serpentine belt which tends to point to more recent. What do you think? I want to describe it for what it is.

You could certainly present it believably as a "crate engine", but in reality, it can represent any hot-rodded 221-260-289-302-351W (and larger custom displacement) engine from the Windsor family. The valve covers are available separately, and all the aftermarket equipment can be installed on anything in the range, obviously. Even the serpentine drive setup can be installed on an early junkyard engine, and a factory-serpentine-equipped engine can be backdated to V-belts just as easily. Hope you had a good Christmas too. Thanks.
