yellowsportwagon Posted April 28, 2018 Author Posted April 28, 2018 Finally got decals on it. Change th wheels too!
disabled modeler Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Tim...I love it..! Been wanting to do just that myself for some time now...we once were lucky enough to own one years ago.
DoctorLarry Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Are you using the stock JoHan chassis or something else?

I will be modifying the exhaust system. I re drilled the axle holes and hacked a bunch out to clear the tires underneath. It’s no contest winner under there for sure.

If you want a good chassis to start from, use the chassis from the AMT 69 442/Hurst Olds. It fits well and is light years from the old Johan snap kit. Plus, if you start from the Hurst, you'll already have the 455 engine.
Geno Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Looks great Tim, I like doing a nice curbside from time to time. A full tilt detailed model sometimes is just too much. I never display models, diecast or otherwise with any panels open anyway.
yellowsportwagon Posted April 29, 2018 Author Posted April 29, 2018 Hood don’t open anyway so curbsidevis fine by me. Just gonna sit on a shelf anyway.
yellowsportwagon Posted May 1, 2018 Author Posted May 1, 2018 (edited) Started some bare metal foil last night. Need to neaten some of it up a little. Edited May 1, 2018 by yellowsportwagon Add
NYLIBUD Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Saw a pic of this Chevelle.Kind of the same look I guess your going for, with your car.Even though it's a different car.

NYLIBUD Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 The 73 Hurst Olds is one of my favorite cars.Either white and gold,or black and gold.Love to find a nice one someday
yellowsportwagon Posted May 1, 2018 Author Posted May 1, 2018 I’m debating on slotting the bumper for exhaust tips. Have to see how gutsy I am. Got some more foil work done. Moving along slowly.

Same here Tim....I love the curbside ones just as much as the full detailed kits...they all can be built into great looking models...just look at this one. Our old 73 was the same as the one your building sure brings back good memories for me.
yellowsportwagon Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 (edited) Did the lights last night. Got to make the bumper fit better in final assembly. Edited May 3, 2018 by yellowsportwagon Add
1930fordpickup Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 That is nice Tim. I like the second wheels better, even though I cringed when I was reading you changed them.

I saw the Olds wheels and said”Now that is exactly the look I’m after .”
