JollySipper Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Started on the Edsel! Actually I worked on what parts I had until the body arrived..... Here's what I've done to the interior, and a pic of the wheels I'm using... So far on the body, I've removed the scripts and the door locks, and the chrome trim down the top of the fenders........ Plan is dark blue over the light blue interior....
espo Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 That is a real pale Blue interior. On the exterior, are you going with a solid color Blue or have you thought about a two tone or one of Edsels wild tri tone exteriors ?
JollySipper Posted March 28, 2018 Author Posted March 28, 2018 Hey, Guys...... I thought of maybe trying the light blue in the scallops and rear panel, but that paint is enamel and I usually use DupliColor clear which won't work over Krylon. I have some acrylic clear, but I'm not "used" to using it.............. Working on getting the body ready for final primer today.......... Thanks!
PARTSMARTY Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Looks like a real cool project-keep it going. The best color combo for this car is the one you like !!!
JollySipper Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 Thanks, Marty!....... I've got the body in final primer..... also have the engine pretty much done...... I'll wait until I have enough clear to do everything before I spray any paint. I like to paint and clear in the same day, while I'm "in the groove"..... Thanks for lookin'!
Sledsel Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Love Edsels and am watching this one for sure. Engine looks great too
JollySipper Posted April 1, 2018 Author Posted April 1, 2018 Got some paint on! This paint job didn't go as swimmingly as I hoped it would.... I got bad orange peel in the second clear coat and had to wet sand that out, then applied one more coat of clear. I hope it's acceptable for you guys! I usually won't paint two consecutive models the same color, but that's just how it worked out...... Thanks...........
JollySipper Posted April 10, 2018 Author Posted April 10, 2018 Thank you, Carl...... Got the foil taken care of! Whew...........! It's not perfect, but it's done.......... Thanks for looking and for any comments..............
Mr Dedo Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Beautiful design. Great choice of colors. The foiling takes patience and practice. That is some really like work!
espo Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 The foil job looks good and makes the model POP. Dark colored models never seem to show as well in photos as they do in person. What color did you use ?? I think mid to dark blues look almost as good as a black on a model.
JollySipper Posted April 11, 2018 Author Posted April 11, 2018 Thanks a bunch, fellas! David, the color is just called "dark blue metallic".......... It's a DupliColor GM color....... and you're right, this color is hard to get right in a pic! Finished pics will most likely be outside
JollySipper Posted April 12, 2018 Author Posted April 12, 2018 Just a mock-up to see how it's gonna look when it comes together........
oneescalante Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 The light blue interior really sets the whole color scheme off great job!
Rider Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 This looks very cool. The interior is really going to poop when this is done. I really dig the paint.
