RAT-T
HELLO, WHAT COLOR & BRAND SEEMS TO WORK BEST FOR PAINTING TIRES? ALSO, DO YOU CLEAR THEM WITH FLAT OR DULLCOAT? THANKS
Ace-Garageguy
If you're painting VINYL or other soft-plastic tires, I recommend one of the flexible paints from the real-car parts store. SEM is one good brand. Edited April 10, 2018 by Ace-Garageguy
afx
There are paint brands that offer "Tire Black". However I mix my own using Tamiya Flat Black and Gray (gloss). I don't have a formula I just mix it till it looks right. These resin tires are painted with my home brew with no clear or dull coat applied. misterNNL
I use rattle can flat black on resin tires then a light buffing with a soft cotton cloth produces a very acceptable finish to my eye.
espo
On kit tires I use Tamiya Semi Gloss as it gives the appearance of a lightly Armor all'd tire. The Flat Clear also works well. I mask the tire tread to protect the scuffed tread appearance.

SfanGoch
Gunship Gray (FS36118) paint, mixed with a few drops of your choice of flat or semi-gloss black (MM Black Chrome Trim paint works best) imparts a good representation of tire rubber. 89AKurt
Depends what the subject is. For a junker sitting around a long time, the grayer the better, for a new show car with the Armor-All treatment, almost gloss black. I tried glass bead blasting vinyl tires on a project, no paint, looked great.
