Please read the revised Forum Rules in the How To Use This Board section. There have been a few minor, but important, changes that have been made to the rules originally posted by Harry.

We will also be modifying the rules posted in specific sections (like the Trading Post) and forum header descriptions, to better align with these rules.

It is not clear what changes have been made. They need to be highlighted in some way, such as font colour.

Also, how does one know if/when they have been 'awarded' a warning point. This needs stating in the rules.

The changes do not matter, as long as everyone reads them in their entirety.

For those looking for the Cliff Notes:

1. Warning points do not expire.

2. Will be cracking down on the foul language, especially those that like to change the spelling of the word to get past the filter.

3. Full name required to post in Trading and Wanted sections.

4. Clarified note to say that "in general" we have no control over what is said via PM, but members do have the option to report it and bring it to our attention.

If warning point is issued, you get an email and a PM.

In the Nixon era, the words [Expletive Deleted] were in quite few documents released during his downfall; apparently Nixon was rather profane. Is "Expletive Deleted" acceptable in a post, or should it be avoided as well?

This needs be change to something more black and white Mod, and in general, yes, you do have control over that,   you do issue warning points, you did  it to me, things that are said here in PM are not private , so you need to be very clear that if you , the mod wants, you can issue warning points to members for things said in private to another member.   That needs to be there as warning,  Its very vague "bringing it to our attention", its needs to say something about we can and will take action against things said in PM.  I like transparency.

I know you disagree, but things said in private are just  that, private, and we members should not have to worry about getting in trouble for things said in private.  ( not counting things that are illegal or threatening or things on those lines)

I dont fully agree with this, but shocking, as someone with 5 warning points, I wonder why,  I do feel I paid for the first few warning points from years ago, and those should be dropped,  I am still getting punished for something that I already did time for.  Why should they still be there ?,

If people are that bad, just banned then,  people sometimes make mistakes and  act badly, sometimes, people are human, and they have moments where they, get this, act like a human being with emotions,  heck, even convicted felons get to start over.  Its of my opinion that there should be a time limit on them, I know you the mod do not agree that.

Just my 1.5 cents, carry on.

Are you serious? Can't you just find a "clean" way to express your thoughts? Children are able to be on this forum too. Besides the rules clearly say no foul language OR substitute characters. We all can interpret what is being expressed. JUST KEEP IT NICE!

Not sure why anyone would need to curse on a model forum, but "bad word removed" would be acceptable.

"In general" we don't care what happens in PM. If you send PM's that you are afraid will become public or that the recipient thinks needs to be brought to our attention, then you need to rethink what you are sending.

Carry on

Older points are not being carried over. You sure are worried about what could happen. Just follow the rules and everything will be fine.

False, they are, I have a total of 5 points, you did not give me those 5 points.

Not worried mod, just bringing up some points, this is a discussion forum , I am discussing the forum rules.

They do not count toward the new rules. They are part of your permanent history on the forum, but will not be combined with future points you will acquire.

Ahh, that makes sense if I am following what you are saying.

That's funny, " you will acquire"

What about the first time you saw what was in a Palmer kit?   (sorry......had to go there)

Well, for instance, sometimes, parts of the contents of a kit box have the value of excrement, and seem to have taken about as much conscious effort to create.

It's less time consuming to type a rough facsimile of the "bad" word than it is to type "excrement".

There's also the ever present danger that "excrement" will not be in the vocabularies of some members...particularly those who have common-core backgrounds.

I think you are going to have to start describing these parts as "lacking resemblance to the real thing"

Continued use of bad language will not be tolerated. Several folks have been changing the spelling of words to get around the language, which the owner of this free board that everyone enjoys, put in place for a reason.

Oh, and putting folks down, even if in a backhanded way like saying they lack the knowledge to understand what excrement means, is frowned upon.

The snowflake syndrome comes to MCM.

Maybe being an adult male is just too toxic to be tolerated.

No sarcasm, I suppose, no use of simple words to express simple ideas.

And all this time, I thought anything smacking of politics was frowned upon too.

I guess it depends on the politics.

Not that I'm being argumentative, mind you.

It's just an effort to try to communicate on a level appropriate to 5-year old girls.

Maybe the forum needs a "Safe Section" where sensitive people can go get virtual hugs just in case they accidentally encounter one of  those words before a moderator can erase them?

I am glad the revised rules have caught everyone's attention. Just a reminder to all....this is a family oriented model car forum, first and foremost. The revised rules are to help stop some of the more recent trends that have been occurring.

There was a time when the rules of this forum consisted of "be respectful of others", that didn't work and stricter rules and punishments had to added. We are trying to make it very clear what will no longer be tolerated.

Most of things that folks are worried about, shouldn't even be a problem. Why use foul language? Why put someone else down? Why stir the pot?

Post your models, ask questions, enjoy what others are doing, post your wild speculations why we will or will not see the '30 Ford from Revell.

So, wouldn't your own comment fall under this rule??

2) Personal attacks will not be tolerated. We believe that encouraging and/or constructive criticism can help, but putting a person down does not accomplish anything for the community. Also, flaming, name calling, and off-color cartoons, images, or content are NOT permitted. Personal attacks are grounds for immediate banning.

Or at least this subsection of Rule #7:

• Belittling someone because their beliefs are different than your own

I'm guessing I'm not going to be posting here much anymore, if even at all. If I have an opinion or have facts to either back up or disprove someone else's, I'm going to voice it, and both of those seem to be frowned upon here now.

See you guys are being short-sighted. You can absolutely have differing opinions. You just need to think about how you post it. You can say you disagree and explain why. You can't say the other persons opinion is a load of carp while doing it.
