Madhatter Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Sorry to bring an old thread up again, but I have been wanting to see the end result of this build as My link to your WIP only went to 3 pages for some reason so I haven't seen anything else of it. And now, I' finally got to see it. All I can really say is - Wow! It certainly came out beautifully despite all of your frustrations. I just bought this kit to do one of these days and I was pointed to your thread by another fellow who also admired your work - evidently with good reason. I will be borrowing a few ideas for when I come to mine. After your engine fit issue, I am tempted to just make it Curbside. Along with the dash and window fixes, it should keep me entertained for a while! Thanks for sharing
Heritage Racing Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 First, Ismael, I hope you're still around to reply to this message. Second, I'm 60 years old and am just starting this build; the last time I built a model was in 1976. In the interim, I have helped my son paint Space Marines, and my son and I make lots and lots of clocks, so I've gotten used to craft and working well with my hands. And I have tons more patience that I had back then. Questions: Did you paint the "Corvette" on the valve covers or use the decal? What did you use for the wraps on the headers? Finally--brilliant build! You are a true craftsman and very talented artist! Jeff
Mattilacken Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Absolutely beautiful! Great work there both with the kit and the weathering! If the kit is anything like the C5R you must have been in for a fight. Great work and looks stunning!
Zippi Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Great job on the build. Looks like it's ready for the track.

Better late than never The CORVETTE script on the valve covers were dry brushed with aluminum paint. For the header wrap I used medical tape found in first aid kits. Thank you for the nice comments and again sorry it took so long to reply. Thanks, Ismael
