It looks absolutely grand! And you didn't invite me????  ?

My friend knowing my passion for Cajun food told me I really needed to go to New Orleans.

My wife and I planned the trip.  It got cancelled at the last minute due to my work responsibilities.

Wouldn't ya know, that was the week of the hurricane and New Orleans flooding?   Dodged that bullet. But never got there since!

Oh yeah...they look appetizing.

Ahem, what's with the spikes on your grill?

Yea I was curious about those spikes too.Man the bbq needs some fresh paint. At first I thought it was a freezer.?

? I was given that gas grill last century, ripped out all the gas stuff.  The "spikes" are 1" square tubing, that was scavenged from a folding awning that somebody dumped in my neighborhood (sold most of it at salvage yard).  Thought they would act like a chimney, fun to watch the smoke after putting chips on the coals.

My daughter and her new husband came to visit this weekend as they will not be able to make it for Thanksgiving.

My daughter requested that I make "Kraut Bieroks", (what they called "kraut burgers" growing up)

They are an old regional "German/Russian" recipe that I grew up with.

A very simple, basic recipe of ground beef, onion, cabbage and salt and pepper, browned and stuffed into bread dough pockets.

Even people who claim that they hate cabbage like this one. ^_^

I had some ideas so I mixed lima beans, black beans, kidney beans, beef, bacon, chorizo, chili peppers, tomato paste and beer together into a stew.... Yes, I know, it sounds like I have emptied the whole fridge down in a pot, but actually, it was very tasteful.

That's the most creative form of cooking that there is!

If you can put together a delicious meal with only the things that you have on hand, you're an innovative cook. ;)

And that was how I invented the Liverwurst Taco!

We had liverwurst but no bread.  I spied a pack of soft taco shells... the rest is history!   ?

Forgot what I had for dinner, the important part was desert.  I scratch-built pumpkin pie using a family recipe.  I make the crust too, using root beer instead of water.

Not a whole meal, but food for a friend recovering from surgery; Spanakopita with Tzatziki for dipping and Baklava for dessert. I love this stuff. I hope they do, too.

I haven't thought to post on this thread for some time, but this was the last meal that I photographed.

I believe that it was last Thursday when I made "Swedish Meatballs" and mashed potatoes.

Wasn't one of the best meals that I ever ate, but hey.............it's Swedish meatballs.

Tonight I'm going to throw in a lasagna and possibly throw together some chocolate bread pudding for dessert.

Just made a pot of my world-famous End of the Year Chili. Never the same twice, always including whatever's in the pantry about to go out of date (or what isn't more than a few months past it), the week's leftovers, and whatever meat was on the most deeply-discounted sale. A steaming mess of sweet-hot mouth-searing goodness. Now for the fresh cornbread...:D

Those look darn good. That's what my wife will be doing all day Monday, I can hardly wait. Christmas makes me and my sons into cookie monsters,so she's got to make a heck of a lot of cookies, so there are some left for other people.

Funny thing is, I'm not crazy about almost everything that my wife bakes for Christmas.

I will eat almost none of them.

I love fudge and date cookies, which she doesn't make! :(

My wife is a fitness nut, so she won't eat many either.

The kids are out of the house so they will enjoy few.

The majority of what you see on that table, (and a bunch more that aren't pictured) will be given to friends and other family members.

Why yes, that IS in fact my "world famous" (emphasis on my)  Bacon Mac N cheese quesadilla... go on let the shaming begin.

I start out making a homemade cheese sauce that is more like a gravy with Cheddar/Gouda... then bacon (Benton's bacon is the only bacon!).

Makes my tastebuds go nuts and my heart think twice about working anymore, but some things are worth "living dangerously".

My wife approves this message.

Bacon and cheese would make a greasy shop rag a delight! :D

No new posts here since December, so maybe it needs a little bump.

I assume that we are all eating at home a bit more now than in months past? ;)

Last week I made Coconut Shrimp and Thai Curry Rice one night.

Last Sunday night, my wife asked me to make a couple of her favorites.

Caesar salad with homemade Caesar dressing, and Pasta Puttanesca.

For someone who doesn't like anchovies, she loves these two dishes more than anything!

It took a full can of anchovies to prepare them. :P

Steve, I finished off a delicious taco casserole last night paired with a nice Japanese whisky.  Had I seen this post earlier I would have taken a picture of it.
