Sadly for me, most of the British beverages from my youth are no longer available in the US

Several years ago my favorite beer, Spaten Optimator, stopped being available at a German restaurant my wife and I liked. Can't find it at stores either. Never could get a clear answer about it but I miss it.

There are a couple of dark beers around but nothing can match that one.

For my sweetie for Valentine’s Day.

A Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake

The cake is a mix, but the frosting is homemade.

3 sticks of butter in the frosting! 😛

Homemade spicy pork tikka masala, shahi paneer, whole-grain brown rice with peas and Indian seasonings, hot buttered pita bread (though I'd prefer naan, there's no local source), and Mrs. Ball's chutney, Modelo Negra to drink.

Made enough for 3 days, finished it up last night.

I could happily eat Indian food every day.  :)

You guys are something else with meals.  We had chili over white rice last night.  Nothing exotic for us.

Sounds good.

Sometimes I really enjoy old simple standards from my kidhood, like frozen fish sticks, macaroni and cheese, and Boston baked beans, or sloppy Joes with sauce from a can, or a pan-fried burger with a baked potato.

Nothing wrong with not "exotic".   :)

Absolutely!

I love a good sloppy Joe or hamburger hot dish occasionally.

Tonight will be beef stew made in the Instant Pot.  Baked potato and salad to go along with the meat.

Wednesday is always burgers and Friday night is pizza.

A friend gave me some elk meat, so I made a pot of elk chili to see me through the next few cold days.

It's great for breakfast too, over a warm tortilla, topped with a fried egg.  :D

We were at my daughter's on Sunday/Monday holiday. My son in law was supposed to bring pulled pork sliders to a Superbowl party that got cancelled. So he froze everything, and made them for us.  So we all had all the pulled port sliders we could eat between yesterday and today!  He said we didn't even dent his frozen supply!  🙂

You're probably aware of this, 'pulled pork' in the 'South is called 'barbecue'........... Barbecue is a verb most everywhere else! There's a show on PBS that is this one guy going around trying all the BBQ restaurants in NC..........

I didn't take a picture, oh well. Last night was a Spanish dish, chicken fricassee. Easy to make and tasty.

I used 4 drum sticks and 4 thighs. Washed and seasoned with garlic powder and Adobe.

1 medium size onion chopped, 2 small peppers (I used green, yellow and red) chopped, 6 cloves of garlic, pressed, about a 1/3 cup of diced fresh cilantro.

About a 1/3rd of a jar of green olives, 1.5 tsp of capers.

All of that goes into a zip lock bag with 2 packets of Goya Sazon seasoning and a bay leaf. Let it sit in the fridge for at least a few hours or overnight.

I use an 8 quart pot, it will hold double of what I scribbled down here, start with some olive oil, heat that up. Then dump the whole bag into the pot with 1 8 ounce can of tomato sauce.

Get it going, make sure it doesn't stick to the bottom, turn the heat to low, stir fairly often.

It takes about 45 minutes, up to an hour if you have things like breasts and backs in the pot. I serve it over yellow rice.

Sometimes simple and easy is exactly what I want

Last night was a bowl of Progresso tomato soup from a can, spiced up a little, and a couple of pieces of buttered crusty deli rye.

Fresh strawberries to finish.

We had reheated pizza and a salad.  Tonight we go out to Chili's. I can taste those chips and salsa already.

We were there last week. Brace yourself... no CHILI on the menu. We will still go back.

Taco Bell.

I rarely eat takeout garbage, but every now and then I just go hog wild.

I go there when my plumbing is backed up. Red Lobster when I need an express evacuation...

While in Daytona I hit up my favorite sub shop. Larry's Subs in nearby Ormond Beach. Been eating here for close to 30 years & never a bad meal.

Hot smoked sausage on toasted rye with mayo and melted cheddar, topped with spicy red chili beans, sauerkraut, and yellow mustard. Yuengling lager.

Later the same day...   These are the 261 ways you can say fart ...
