We’ve been lucky enough to be able to purchase a quarter beef from our local university’s “meat sciences” department the past few years for reasonable prices. We stocked our freezer with beef late in the summer and it should last us for at least a year. Hopefully beef prices will come down by then. Steve 1

LDO Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Thai coconut/shrimp soup. The one with lemon grass, cilantro, mushrooms, etc. the recipe is from America’s Test Kitchen and it is super simple. Theirs is with chicken. I made some last night without meat. To my surprise, Mom wanted a second bowl. (Mom lives with me). For her second bowl, she added freeze dried shrimp. Tonight I made a double batch and added shrimp. Oh my gosh this stuff is so good. I have to say that the shrimp didn’t do much for me. I could have it as a vegetarian soup no problem. You gotta try it. It is so easy to make. I like their suggestion to pour the soup through a strainer halfway through. Ace-Garageguy Posted Thursday at 11:57 PM Posted Thursday at 11:57 PM (edited) Roast turkey, sausage/brown bread stuffing, mashed potatoes with rutabaga, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce with strawberries and ghost peppers, mince pie w/heavy cream. All made from scratch (except the pie), which is a pretty good trick on only one large propane burner that is also my main source for heat, one small camp stove, and a toaster oven. It’s moist and has cheese, jalapeños, and bacon. My first time making this recipe. That little sample told me it’s everything I wanted. I tried coming up with my own recipe several times and it never worked. I finally just googled “moist cornbread with jalapeños, cheese, and bacon”. Success. 2

bobss396 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago No pictures but last night was OLIVE GARDEN! We beat the crowd, got there by 4:15 and were seated right away. Bread sticks, big bowl of salad to start and a 22 ounce beer for me. My girlfriend had a ravioli dish, I had spaghetti and sausage. They have those $6 to-go deals, I got 2 with meat sauce. Before the tip, the total was $68. And we had leftovers too. 1
