My wife was at a show tonight with her Mom, 2 sisters, and 3 nieces, and a friend. So, it was BBQ time.
A “reverse sear” tenderloin steak (medium rare), fingerling potatoes, roasted red pepper, and warm cherry tomatoes with olive oil and a dusting of oregano. A glass of wine too(2).

A Minnesota staple, tator-tot hotdish. Yes up here in the cold and white north it's hotdish not casserole.

Homemade Tacos! My wife cooked up some delicious hamburger, and we had fresh flour tortillas, sour cream, tomatoes, and shredded cheddar. It was excellent. Simple yet filling.

Several nights back actually , I had spent most of the day moving snow off of trailers, vehicles and shoveling it out of the way. My wife asked what I wanted for supper  - my reply was "Apple pie A'la-mode" , so she made one from scratch. You can do that when the kids are grown and gone!

Simple Monday night dinner last night, LOL. Crab and ricotta ravioli with lemon zest and dill (homemade pasta) in a lemon-butter sauce with a warm spinach bacon salad and some Grocery Outlet brown & serve breadsticks. And a glass or two of California Chardonnay.

Not dinner, but Sunday brunch. Lemon ricotta pancakes from scratch. fresh(ish) blueberries, butter and maple syrup. Fresh-squeezed orange juice from oranges that were hanging on the tree in the front yard about an hour before this photo.

I gotta try that.   :D

I double the amount of lemon zest that the recipe calls for. We don't think they are lemony enough the way the recipe is written. YMMV.

Those pan cakes sure do look nice… may have to ask my grandma to make her home made ones…

Get her recipe and/or have her teach you how to make them. You never know how long she will be around. My spouse's grandmother allegedly made the best pancakes ever, but her recipe was lost for 50+ years after she died. After quizzing the spouse and the SIL, I found a recipe online that they both agree is on point.

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/42688/fluffy-canadian-pancakes/

Separating the eggs and beating the whites into almost a meringue makes them amazingly light and airy. They both remembered that she separated the eggs when I shared this recipe with them. It's weird to me that their grandmother cooked anything. Their Grandpa was an accountant / money launder for a couple of big name Hollywood types and the grandparents had live in help that did almost everything.

One step ahead; my mom has the recipe and  taught me how to make 'em. But my grandma still makes them better.

Snake and pygmy pie, with a Guiness.

Sadly for me, most of the British beverages from my youth are no longer available in the US.

Anyway, I've got enough s&pp to last a few days.

I know pygmys are little, but how many does it take to make a pie?

Not as many as it takes blackbirds to make a pie, which is 24 IIRC.  :D
