Austin T Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 New desktop background,Models would sell so much better in my opinion if they had box art like this.
gtx6970 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 2 more of my favorites. Although these are dealer promotionals ( another one of my vices ) I've always wondered how the Johan 1969 GTX box was so similar to the MPC 1969 Barracuda box and yet be from 2 completely different companies.
FASTBACK340 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 2 more of my favorites. Although these are dealer promotionals ( another one of my vices ) I've always wondered how the Johan 1969 GTX box was so similar to the MPC 1969 Barracuda box and yet be from 2 completely different companies. The box art is similar because it's from Chrysler, not designed by the model companies. The cartoons on the promo boxes are reproductions from Chrysler print ads of the time.
2002p51 Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I don't know if any of these are the best ever but they are my favorites. I use them as a border at the top of the walls in my model room.

Junkman Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Why was everything nicer and better in them good old times?
Scale-Master Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Why was everything nicer and better in them good old times? To be fair, some of those kits with great box art contained parts that left much to be desired. Arguably in several cases the box is far better than the kit was. I must admit to being partial to the Lynnwood '55 Chevy art, family ties and all...
richcrabman Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I've just found this (see other thread). This looks fantastic What kit is this pic from? I want it.........
Greg Myers Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 One of my personal favorite box art would be this 330 P4 by Fujimi I'm packing for a move, just found a bunch of those kits, you're right, good stuff. The IMC stuff too.
FordRodnKustom Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 My all time favorite. This is the one that introduced me to model cars at a young age. I still enjoy looking at it today. It's just a classic.
Guest Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 That is a good one Ron! It makes me want to buy an old AMT '40 Ford kit and just get to building on it!
Nate Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 The art for the Galaxie Limited 48 Chevy kits is pretty awesome.
Dr. Cranky Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Great thread indeed. Drew, I love the idea too. Thanks for sharing.
Crazy Ed Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I'll add my vote to the "Oil Painting" Heller Kits. Ok the engine in the kit isn't all it could be but I've been tempted to buy the kits just for the Box Art! I think the Martini 917K, Ferrari 330P4 and Ferrari 512s also came with this style box's in the early 70's releases.
FEENIX Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I've always thought this one was so breath taking and appealing to me. It just showed so much dominance and muscle. I have one of these kits as a build when i get better. I built this one for my little brother back in the day when they mass produced them.
Tony T Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I like the boxart for the Batmobile Deluxe Edition. I agree...my new favourite box art!! Next up for me is the Flock Chrysler 300 by Moebius...and all of the Hudson box art, too!!
57peppershaker Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 What kit is this pic from? I want it......... It a Yodel Dodge Monaco. I'm planning to build a copy but using the AMT kit. There was a thread, but it was mixed in with another. Look under 'Kit reviews' - Yodel Ameriacan Police cars.
Daddyfink Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) One of my all time favorites and not some photoshop job! And right behind this one is this Edited September 16, 2013 by Daddyfink
