I've always wondered how the Johan 1969 GTX box was so similar to the MPC 1969 Barracuda box and yet be from 2 completely different companies.

The box art is similar because it's from Chrysler, not designed by the model companies. The cartoons on the promo boxes are reproductions from Chrysler print ads of the time.

I don't know if any of these are the best ever but they are my favorites. I use them as a border at the top of the walls in my model room.

To be fair, some of those kits with great box art contained parts that left much to be desired. Arguably in several cases the box is far better than the kit was.

My all time favorite. This is the one that introduced me to model cars at a young age. I still enjoy looking at it today. It's just a classic.

I'll add my vote to the "Oil Painting" Heller Kits. Ok the engine in the kit isn't all it could be but I've been tempted to buy the kits just for the Box Art!

I think the Martini 917K, Ferrari 330P4 and Ferrari 512s also came with this style box's in the early 70's releases.

I've always thought this one was so breath taking and appealing to me. It just showed so much dominance and muscle. I have one of these kits as a build when i get better. I built this one for my little brother back in the day when they mass produced them.
