That Monogram "40 Ford pick up is surely a classic. I'm sure we've all built a few of these, if not, you have to check it out.;)

Nope, Not me. Ever that I can think of. And no real desire to

I totally agree.

It's a fun kit! Easy to build, good details, lots of possibilities. No need for a new tool of this one, this one's timeless.

I especially enjoy the well designed opening doors and roll up windows. Very clever engineering and fool-proof.

Now if only they'd put back all the original stock and custom parts, it'd be perfect!

The '40 Ford is a timeless vehicle, in my opinion. I haven't built a model of one since about '68 or '69. I have a '48 on the bench and these pics are telling me I need to pack it up and grab one of the '40's out of the stash!! HAHAHA

Built a tudor (with what had to be one of my worst rattlecan paint jobs, orange over crazy blistered purple metalic) to play with in the carpet in '73 or so; photo-altered a phantom "tudor coupe" much more recently; still kicking around the idea of a vintage box-art style using the original black plastic-polished coupe but maybe with the Revell '49 Merc flame decals instead. Lazy in my old age when it comes to painting, vs polishing up nicely colored plastic, but not convinced yet that the much newer Revell-ogram blue coupe is all that great of a color.

Your idea of building the black plastic '40 reminds me of one I built years ago. I sanded the few mold lines in the body and as I recall I removed some of the trunk lid details. I used good old Simonize automotive rubbing compound to remove all of the sanding marks and then finish came back about 99% of the gloss of the rest of the body. With the polishes we have today it shouldn't be a problem to get it 100%. Please post your build, I'd like to follow your build.
