This is the model train layout of Mr. Hans-Peter Porsche. He is the grandson of Ferdinand Porsche (the designer of the VW Beetle, and the founder of the company that bears his name).

I watched the whole thing and found it strangely relaxing

I agree. I pulled up the video to my 70" TV, thought it was cool watching on my phone but wow! What an incredible layout! Thanks for sharing.

Nice video and layout.  What I found a bit strange was all the red signals the train went through. Pretty impressive for a private layout, but not quite the gotcha factor compared to Miniatur Wunderland.  But that is a professionally built and maintained layout.

Mr. Porsche's layout is Marklin H0 scale. Back in 2010, I took similar videos of a friend's N scale (about half the size of H0) layout where I had my hand in building and operating.  The video is lower resolution and it was a live wireless feed, so the quality is not as good.

Wow , a beautiful rendition of European railroading . Must take a lot of man hours to maintain and run . I did notice the turnouts not set correctly and a few of the figures falling over . Who were the police arresting at 8:17 of the video , looks like a woman with a child on a bike ?

Thanks, that was fascinating.

Here's the layout of another (in)famous German model railroader, Hermann Goering.  He's at left in the pic, enjoying a cigar.  Pretty sure I read somewhere that this layout included a model Stuka dive-bomber on a wire; it could swoop down and simulate dive-bombing the trains.

Rod Stewart (yes, THAT Rod Stewart) is also a model RR guy...which kinda goes to help dispel the myth that modelers are social misfit dorks who can't get dates.  ;)B)

Rod Stewart's layout was featured on PBS's Tracks Ahead (I think) a number of years ago. Even my wife, who generally doesn't pay much attention to stuff like that was impressed.

I don't have room for a layout in my basement, will be occupied by my slot car tracks when they're finished. I do however have a number of trains, Walthers beautiful Hiawatha set and I'm working on completing Con-Cor's GM Aero Train in HO plus I have a number of interesting pieces of rolling stock I've  collected over the years.

Still have my Bachmann set from my childhood that's set up around the Christmas tree when we put one up. For now that's about as close to a layout that I'll have.

Neil Young is a massive train "nerd" as well. If I recall, he actually bought, or bought a share of, Lionel trains, so he could help design a controller that his handicapped son could use.

Here's his portable layout.
