Lyle Willits Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Not much is glued yet. It's just sitting together. The hood is resin from I think PSF Hobbies. It was meant for the AMT Nova but I added material to make it fit the Revell kit. Wheels are from a Revell '32 Ford. Made shackles for the traction bars. Cut out and reversed the incorrect gas tank. Interior is done with a tach and scratchbuilt shifter plate with a reverse lockout lever. Still have various details to add to the engine. Engine is from a Revell Yenko Camaro. I'll use the flyeye air cleaner from the Revell B-M Chevelle kit, along with the sidepipes from the same kit.
Bernard Kron Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Niiiiiiice! The detailing is just lovely. Revell's mags never looked like that! What finishes did you use to bring them to life like that?

Gregg1LE Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Nice work so far, Lyle. Paint and engine look great !
george 53 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Looks great Lyle, nice color too! The hood really makes it, doesn't it?
Willy Survive Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Beautiful work so far. Engine looks fantastic. Are those wheels in the Revell "Goodguys" 32 Ford kit? Again it looks great. -Will
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 What's goin' on... "VERY COOL" so far!!!
Randy Kern Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Very cool so far, Lyle. I like the color, it looks pretty close to Chevy's Garnet Red. Well, you've got some '32 ford in it with the wheels & tires, that look perfect on it.
george 53 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Lyle, like I said before, it looks great, but after checkin out the interior pic again, it LOOKS like ya mighta put the shifter handle in BACKWARDS. 1st an 3rd gears are gonna be real knuckle busters! No big deal though,if it never gets driven!
mikelo Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Looks great. I can't imagine where you got those wheels & tires (LOL). They look great on it. It should look real good after you get the sidepipes on it. Keep us posted. Mike
novadose71 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Awesome so far Lyle!!! I like the looks of the L-88 scoop on there, you don't see it very often. The engine looks good too, there is something about a BB with those valvecovers and those T-handle holddowns and wires really set them off.
Daniel Lynch Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Very nice Nova!!! Great job, for now!! Daniel

No big deal though,if it never gets driven! Actually, I should have used the Hurst shifter from the Revell Chevlle kit also, but it's too late now. The model isn't going to Salt Lake anyhow,,, Those wheels have been in the Revell '32 3-window and Speedwagon kits since 1996.
cruz Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Don't let Lyle fool ya!!! If you look real close it's really a '32 Ford!!!!
Frank Steffens Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Don't let Lyle fool ya!!! If you look real close it's really a '32 Ford!!!! I was thinking the exact same thing! Lyle, with your skill, I wouldn't have been in the least bit surprised if you started this thread by saying "This one started out as the Revell Speedwagon kit, but with some reworking and putty, here's a 69 Nova"
Nate Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) Great build Lyle! Did y'all notice that he couldn't build it without using at least some parts from a Revell 32 Ford kit? Edited August 12, 2008 by Nate
