I did a Thunderbird Y-Block image search on Google tonight, and it directed me right back to this forum where Bill had posted a series of Y-Block engine images.  With the Thunderbird rear sump oil pan (just as I had said and just as shown on Fred's terrific A coupe) along with the external oil pump and lines (just as you said above).   Always learning new things in this hobby.  Thanks for the added info, Túlio .....TIM

I was going to say the same thing as Tulio, Tim. Then again, like the man said. "Modeling..."

So next time no oil pan and a rod or 2 sticking out of the block, and a oily puddle under the car......going to use my artistic drivers license ;)

When someone is building a model, there is no real "obligation" on the detail level. It's what the builder feels comfortable with. At least that's what I think.

The Y-Block, at least in the U.S., is a harder motor to come by than a flathead V8, and few people actually saw one in person.

I think the model is awesome, and has no flaws.

I just noticed the oil pump detail, as I drive a Galaxie with a 292, and I use to work on those engines for friends. Early this year I replaced a oil pan gasket, and to do so, one has to deal with the oil feeding tube to the pump, so the oil pump is fresh on my mind.

All of the chrome bits are either airbrushed with Molotow chrome or are pieces of Ni-Chrome tubing.

Man, this came out great. Thank for taking us along for the ride. i especially like the scratchbuilt x-member and intake setup

Can you share your source for the Ni-Chrome tubing, please?

I'm with you Tulio. I grew up on those engines, and I had 3 of them in my garage not so long ago. Plus one in my 57 F100 I used to own. And other than the oil pump feed is perfect.  Only thing I'd change is the zip code it lives in.
