I just received this in the mall the other day and needed a break from the Cobra. Nice kit but you need the detail kit to go with it. All the screens are done very nice. If I had a complaint the chassis and interior are molded in black. In the real car they are white. Still one of my favorite rally cars. I started with the cage and the basic running gear.

Thanks everyone....the kit is good ,a little flash here and there. I’m trying to see if anyone on the secondary market makes the solid style wheel for the car. It the wheel that seems to be run in the snow at Monte Carlo.

Good start. You need the detail set for the correct tobacco markings also.

Yes ...they are hidden under the photoeteched. The kit decals have the cut outs for them. Pretty good idea.

it looks like its just a disc behine the stock rims, you might get away with trying some spare brake discs with the calipers removed

That’s what I thought as well. It’s some kinda disc to keep snow and mud out of the wheel

Got the chassis primed and painted. I did some post weathering on the chassis as well as added some heat shielding from MFH. Working on the exhaust with some heat staining.

The suspension has been added and a bit more weathering has been done. I’m gonna add some snow effect to it as well. Just painted the skid plates waiting for them to dry.

I don't like how all rally car models come with slicks.  So the aftermarket has stepped in.  I got these from Spot Model.

I use foil from cardboard style cigarette packs, when I see someone using up their smokes at the bar, I ask for the pack and they look at me kinda weird.  :P

The heat shield is the MFH stuff. It’s a bit thinner. Who makes those wheels?

I have a roll of this stuff called Fancy Foil.

You can buy it at Michael's, looks similar to the stuff from MFH and it is probably a lifetime supply for $9.00.

I like how you have done the chassis on this build. The tires and wheels should add a lot to the appearance. I used to use the cigarette liners behind clear red plastic tail lights to give it the appearance of the OEM style tail lights on '60's era models.
