Gt fan Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 (edited) I just received this in the mall the other day and needed a break from the Cobra. Nice kit but you need the detail kit to go with it. All the screens are done very nice. If I had a complaint the chassis and interior are molded in black. In the real car they are white. Still one of my favorite rally cars. I started with the cage and the basic running gear. Edited February 3, 2019 by Gt fan Change tag
935k3 Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Good start. You need the detail set for the correct tobacco markings also.
stitchdup Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 well I'm along for the ride, Loved seeing these on the telly as a kid and have the kit on pre order
Tommy124 Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 That kit is on my list aswell... I'll follow your WIP!
89AKurt Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Rooting for you! I got this kit and p-e secret decal too!
Gt fan Posted November 22, 2018 Author Posted November 22, 2018 Thanks everyone....the kit is good ,a little flash here and there. I’m trying to see if anyone on the secondary market makes the solid style wheel for the car. It the wheel that seems to be run in the snow at Monte Carlo.
stitchdup Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 do you have a pic of the wheels you're looking for? I can only find pics of it on the 5 spokes at monte carlo

carmad1957 Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 I've never seen one of these- I like! looks like you're off to a great start and anxious to see it come along!

It’s some kinda disc to keep snow and mud out of the wheel
Gt fan Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 Got the chassis primed and painted. I did some post weathering on the chassis as well as added some heat shielding from MFH. Working on the exhaust with some heat staining.
Gt fan Posted November 26, 2018 Author Posted November 26, 2018 The suspension has been added and a bit more weathering has been done. I’m gonna add some snow effect to it as well. Just painted the skid plates waiting for them to dry.
89AKurt Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 I don't like how all rally car models come with slicks. So the aftermarket has stepped in. I got these from Spot Model. I use foil from cardboard style cigarette packs, when I see someone using up their smokes at the bar, I ask for the pack and they look at me kinda weird.

The heat shield is the MFH stuff. It’s a bit thinner. Who makes those wheels?
Kennyboy Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 (edited) I have a roll of this stuff called Fancy Foil. You can buy it at Michael's, looks similar to the stuff from MFH and it is probably a lifetime supply for $9.00. Edited November 26, 2018 by Kennyboy

espo Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I like how you have done the chassis on this build. The tires and wheels should add a lot to the appearance. I used to use the cigarette liners behind clear red plastic tail lights to give it the appearance of the OEM style tail lights on '60's era models.
Ich_Will Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I love those old Audi ralleye cars. I'll be following this one.
Dann Tier Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 This is looking great!!!.....I love these cars!!….they launch like rockets!!!
