TransAmMike
Are you gonna build it just like the 1:1 car picture Geoff??

Pretty much, yes, minus the rear wheel covers, I'll be painting it in Highland green with a surf green roof panel.

GeeBee
Hood rockets fitted, they were cut off the parts tree, after sanding the ends smooth and rounded off slightly, they were rechromed using Molotow liquid chrome and fitted to the hood using 5 minutes epoxy resin. Tom Geiger
Here’s a photo of the grille badge. The actual areas of color are smaller and there’s a lot of silver and maybe gold detail. Best option may actually be a decal from this photo. I’ll bet that’s how the mints did it

TransAmMike
Any one on the forum have a good decal making instructional? Having an exact replica of the emblem would be very useful for us '57 affectionado's.
GeeBee
Until I've set up my new workshop where I'll be doing my airbrushing, I'm back on this one, getting all the little chrome parts fitted, the door locks will be done using the photoetched parts. Thank you, Amt kits can be hit or miss, luckily this is one of their good ones, makes working on it a pleasure.

The cars were much bigger though so maybe they balance each other out. Spectacular work on this Geoff! David G.
GeeBee
Radio aerial fitted, I didn't like the plastic mast as it looked a little over scaled, so I cut it off, drilled the base and inserted a cut down dressmaking pin, the base was then re-chromed using Molotow liquid chrome. Only thing left to do now is airbrush the front and rear scripts on the bonnet and bootlid in gold, and a few decals in the engine bay then it will be posted in the "Under glass" section. GeeBee
Chevrolet script and V emblems primed, these need to be painted in Gold, then I can get this one finished
David G.
Good call on the aerial. Lately I've been using 17ga guitar string. It's pretty easy to cut and fairly flexible to allow for those occasional inadvertent contacts. David G.
