vamach1 Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 Saw these kits on Ebay from ant1969hill with 100% feedback. Has anyone out there ordered or built one. They look okay but probably not on par with HRM or Hiro. Any feedback is appreciated before I put out almost $100 for one. These are screen shots so not the best picture quality.
vamach1 Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 Should also mention these are curbside and no donor kit is required.
afx Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) Looks like a copy of the Scale Coachworks resin kit with some extra bits added. Edited December 18, 2018 by afx
Gramps46 Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) Thanks Rex, this is the first I have seen of these. Now I am wondering if the bodies are different for #96 and #16? Just checked eBay and from the photos they all look to have the same bodies, just different decals. Edited December 17, 2018 by Gramps46 additional information
cobraman Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 I have seen them on the bay but know little about them. I would like more info before I pull the trigger on one.

So assuming they are a copy which kit would be the closest to what is it supposed to represent. I suppose with some HRM parts one could make a decent replica. Would these fit the Monogram 427 or AMT 289 chassis or would it take a little from each?

Scott and I both used the AMT Cobra chassis to get the leaf spring chassis but the wheelbase does need to be stretched to match the Revell body. I have also used the Monogram 427 chassis on another 1/24 289 resin body and it worked fine too. Personally I think all the resin kits were based on the Revell slot body and there is not much difference that I can tell. I do not have the Scale Coachworks or HRM bodies to compare but I do have an old UMI body and it is a direct copy of the Revell. The #176 should be the closest match to what is being offered. The #14 and #11 did not have the trunk bumps and the #16 lacks the front fender spats and the #96 is very different in the fenders front and back.
250 Testa Rossa Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 The dash isn't correct for this kit, and I think it was poorly casted. I would most likely get either a Scale Coachworks kit, or convert either a Monogram or Sunny 427 into an FIA car, since I have plans to build CSX2259, which was the first of five FIA cars built.
vamach1 Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 Thanks Gramps and Testa Rossa. Brad's kits are top notch so I may not even bother with these offered get which seem to be pretty basic and putting an engine in them would probably be a lot of work. Gramps - you need to get one of the HRM conversion kits.
afx Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) The Allen Grant (#96) car is an early 289 with the stock flat lip at the front wheels and only the rear wheel openings modified, similar to this: Also no fender vents, cut-back doors, oil cooler scope or suitcase bumps on the Grant car. afx Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 I added some additional photos of the Scale Coachwork body.
