Nice work on an old classic.

I'm not a street rod kinda guy,

But in the back of my mind , every so often I think I need one of these on my shelf . The car is a icon of the 80s

I hope you are trying to grow a zz top beard at the same time...

Great looking rebuild you've got going on here.

The good news: the Eliminator is almost done

The bad news: the beard may take a decade to catch up... :)

If you do decide on getting one, it is a fun build. Thanks, Bill.

Made a bit more progress on the Eliminator. This was my first attempt at using actual wires for the plug wires instead of thread. The interior is painted, decals applied, and ready for assembly.

Great save. Perhaps a quick buff of that clearcoat will make it really pop?

Well played nontheless Sir.

Thank you very much. Great idea about buffing the clearcoat. I don’t have the resources at this time, though I do plan on buffing it in the future.

The chassis assembly is complete, now onto the body and finishing touches. I also included some more pics of the interior before I set the door panels and dash in the body.

Getting closer to final assembly. The chassis is complete, windows and interior are glued into the cab, headlights and running boards are glued to the fender assembly, and the taillights are painted.

Love the build. One of my best friends absolutely loved ZZ Top. I got one to build in memory of him. You’ve given me the push I need to get started.

By the way, what red did you use on the body?

Thank you, Jacob. That is very touching that you’re building one in memory of your friend - such a wonderful sentiment. I really appreciate your post. The paint is 4 light coats of Rust-oleum American Accents Apple red over white primer.

Thanks Tyler, I've been wanting to build one to go along with my DM California Kid diecast. Looks like a search is on lol.

I found my builtup recently.   Plain old red 34.   I also have a Carquest diecast red with flames.   Probably sell off my builtup.  No need to have 2.  This kit does turn out pretty nice with some work.   Great 80s style street rod.  The original poster has a nice version going as well.  Going to look nice.

Funny how we can look back at our older builds and see how far we've come.   At least hopefully we are advancing.

Looks sharp.

You really nailed the colors.

Too bad Monogram took the shortcuts with the kit and didn't put the correct engine and transmission in it.
